What type of Twilight Zone ish is this? Ab-Soul garbage? Not a good fit? He's evenly matched with Kendrick lyrically (although K-Dot makes better music), probably the second most known in the group and the whole 'hippy' name is based on his image more than anything.

I think this is just a way to shift focus to Soul since he's supposed to release his album next, usually once you go with the whole 'label vs artist' promo a single is sure to not be too far behind...

ab soul is the least known, not seond lol. ab soul currently has no distribution deal for a reason. kenrick and schoolboy got the nod for interscope because of sales of section 80 andh&c. souls release didnt move even half the units so interscope didnt want him. jay rock had a deal with warner and got spins with that weezy single. then dropped an album on strange.
