I thought the Championship Tour would be a major turning point for TDE. I felt like that tour was the biggest reality check for them. Kendrick, Q, and SZA all got near full sets. Hits, crowd favorites, etc. Flip side Ab Soul did 1 song, which came out in 2012 (Terrorist Threats). Jay Rock did 2 or 3. Sir did a couple songs. IMO I'd be embarrassed if I opened up for my label mates on tour but could only do 1 song since that's the only shyt people know.
Since then...Jay Rock released Redemption which had a couple hits and songs he can tour. Sir got a gold record (Hair Down) and some other dope tracks that will work live. But Ab released an album that got middling responses (I liked it btw). Rashad wasn't on the tour, presumably as he was still getting clean. Lance Skiiwalker didn't do anything...I have no idea why he's even on the label. Just seems like that tour showed they needed young blood, and that many of their artists needed hits or noteworthy songs. Letting artists record 100s of songs for 4 years without releasing an album is just bad business at this point. It's go time for everyone on that label.
