You know what I see as failing? People like yourself who can’t admit when you are completely off base. Just say you got your info mixed up & didn’t know that TDE assisted all they could with this artist.

HE CHOSE the delay
HE CHOSE the drugs
HE CHOSE his own social media moments & how he would re-introduce himself.

Good talk. Now admit you got it wrong for blaming TDE.
I can admit being wrong. Seems like their other artists do more press and shyt. I do forget he got caught up with the drugs tho

I give them supreme credit for takin Isiah to rehab n puttin up wit that cause shyt so many other labels would never even think of takin that risk

and that's all you gotta know to know better. meanwhile von get killed beefing at his own album release party and mac oding buying crack. but nobody gonna blame those labels. the blame tde shyt is just a trend. i think they dont mind it though. all publicity is good pub in the entertainment business.

I know TDE is ass when it comes to management of they’re talent outside of KDot but if not for Top we would be saying “RIP Isaiah Rashad” instead…:aicmon:

All I’m saying is that Rashad didn’t make it better for himself by being a drug addict, in & out of rehab and taking forever to get himself together.

I thought the Championship Tour would be a major turning point for TDE. I felt like that tour was the biggest reality check for them. Kendrick, Q, and SZA all got near full sets. Hits, crowd favorites, etc. Flip side Ab Soul did 1 song, which came out in 2012 (Terrorist Threats). Jay Rock did 2 or 3. Sir did a couple songs. IMO I'd be embarrassed if I opened up for my label mates on tour but could only do 1 song since that's the only shyt people know.

Since then...Jay Rock released Redemption which had a couple hits and songs he can tour. Sir got a gold record (Hair Down) and some other dope tracks that will work live. But Ab released an album that got middling responses (I liked it btw). Rashad wasn't on the tour, presumably as he was still getting clean. Lance Skiiwalker didn't do anything...I have no idea why he's even on the label. Just seems like that tour showed they needed young blood, and that many of their artists needed hits or noteworthy songs. Letting artists record 100s of songs for 4 years without releasing an album is just bad business at this point. It's go time for everyone on that label.

Uzi put out 3 albums/tapes that were considered cult classics (or outright classics) for that generation. Travis did so much marketing and pivoting (maybe an industry plant..who knows) with connected names to build himself into a superstar

I just don't know anything Zay did other than make great music to become a star. And we know by now that it takes more than that. Not to excuse TDE, which clearly failed to capitalize on their mid 2010s trajectory. Essentially achieved nothing with their post Black Hippy/SZA signings, other than handing them a few placements on the former's singles. I know they're lowkey personalities, but they also didn't do much to keep the Black Hippy names in the cultural zeitgeist b/t album rollouts either. It really feels like everyone handled all the makreting themselves in that group

TDE is far from blameless but the biggest problem with Rashad is Rashad. His drug use/addition ruined his career, period. The wait between Cilvia Demo and his last album was solely due to them trying to clean him up. And the wait between his last album and the new one coming next week is...again...getting him cleaned up. He's 29 or 30 now...assuming another 3+ year wait for an album it'll truly be wrap for him after this.

It's over for them outside of Kendrick and SZA, and while Rashad deserves a lot of blame...end of the day he'd be in a better position if they could have gotten him on some tracks. You can't get Rashad on a Yo Gotti, Starlito, etc album? You can't get Q on a Sada Baby track? You can't get Jay Rock on some Griselda/Gibbs/etc shyt? It makes no fukking sense.
I think the Black Hippy nikkas kinda had autonomy on who they worked with, but yeah Jay DEFINITELY shoulda been putting some work in on features around that 90059 time. Hell, a whole tape with a Benny or Freddie would've done a lot in pivoting him to those audiences, which are way more similar than the druggie crowd that fell in love with Q or the nikkas Kenny got. But now he's the "Win win win" nikka and idk if some Griselda fans would even rock with dude.

I think more than anything, they just did a bad job of pivoting them for some post early-mid 2010s longevity. Q changed what he was about substantially in the back half of the decade, but I don't really know what his audience is now. Soul is so lowkey Idek, but a lot of cats that came up right before or during his time (Lupe, Danny, Blu, Sir Michael Rocks, etc) were able to create multiple legs to their careers and find new ears. Maybe I'd blame him more than TDE, but they gotta get some of this

Thought people fukked with Ab more. Not the casual but their core. I have no idea who Lance is. The management of TDE post Kendrick’s reign has been bad.

Actually Isiah Rashad could've literally been the literal mix of big boi and Andre 3k. I'm not saying solely talent wise tho, but image and sound wise. He could rap fast as hell and be funny and gritty like like big but also mellow and vibe out his melodies and hooks like andre. He was really in a special position that had he been focused enough to want it he would've been the top dude coming out the south in my opinion.
