Real talk if you are young and have a degree between the ages of 20s to early 40s and haven't gotten anywhere with your career and aren't making any decent money. But live in a major city I would encourage some folks to look into the teacher cert program.
These big cities have a teacher shortage cause all the old timers are retiring due to covid and due to them not being able to understand the technology to do distant learning.
You would be surprised how many older teachers know absolutely nothing about computers. You got 60 and 70 year old teachers who can teach the shyt out of calculus and physics. But couldn't work zoom or a smart phone if you gave them a manual.
Out here in DFW teachers starting off make 53 to 57k working 189 days a year. It ain't engineering money. But it's more than most jokers would make with a English degree, biology degree, art degree, general studies degree and many of the other degrees folks get in college that they can't do anything else with (with out a secondary degree) yet got tons of debt.
I know a brotha right freaking now with one of them degrees above. Dude is 28 working at freaking Hertz. Making 18 an hour. Dude be hitting me up for jobs at my company taking about he need a higher paying gig. Told him all we hire are engineers and all the kats in my circle engineers too. So I really don't have contacts that can help him
Brought up the teacher program and dude looked at me like I was crazy. I was like dude you do the program for 1 year and you making 55k. I was like plus you a black male the schools will roll out the welcome mat because they need black teachers. Dude threw his hands up and was like naw I am gonna try to get some high paying job.
That was 2 years ago and he still at Hertz making chump change with around 50k instudent loans.
Jokers be hustling backwards with some of these job opportunities.
