Yeah I’m sitting here at a FANG company and thinking if I get back into the financial IT world again. I don’t think these big corporations have a long term positive outcome in today’s AI world.

Luckily I am in the IR side of things so my humanity is still required….for now.

Starting more cloud stuff and Japanese so when the time comes I’ll go work on a farm and say thank you to the tech world and bow out. It’s not a good look for the up and comers right now.

Not that I think AI is the pure answer, but it is the companies thinking they have to go all in. Google RIFs are coming soon, I am sure.

This is how I feel with my position in the software/data privacy legal space. Robots/AI can automate templates and administrative processes, but it can’t negotiate contracts. That being said, nothing about my position feels secure as I think outsourcing is a bigger threat. My CLO got let go and so did a good chunk of our Scrum teams. This shyt is too fukking stressful. By the time we bounce back from this upcoming recession to an employees market again I’ll be an undesirable middle age and have that working against me. :mjcry:

I said before but we gotta start cutting down and planning exits. We get caught up in American (I assume you are American) consumerism which puts us in an endless cycle of debt thus we became slaves in golden shackles where we have to depend on this jobs to maintain. Not saying everyone gotta start a business and be a boss or whatever buzz word, more so saying get to where we aren't life or death dependent on these jobs thus the natural stress from uncertainty does eat our souls with the volatility of this industry and world.

Easier said then done. People gotta budget, look at expenses vs income and then save on top of all that.

For me, I got 24-30 months worth of savings if I quit my IT job or the job fires me. Living through 08 recession and other financial hardships taught me the hard way (pause).

I have no debt but I do go through cycles where I blow through my savings because shopping helps my depression lol. It doesn’t seem like I’ll ever have enough savings or help to buy a house and as a younger millennial, I’m done trying to catchup to a standard of life that’s increasingly difficult to reach. I have these highs and lows re: doom and gloom about the future and constantly cycle between “YOLO I could die tomorrow” and “Save for a rainy day”.

So if shyt goes left I can at least say my tech job allowed me to buy and enjoy nice things at least once in my life. :pachaha:
