IT field is looking cooked more and more. In the past few years, I've seen engineering teams from top vendors I was working with go from Smith's to Patels.

Doesn't help with the accent they be having. I've hung up on a few "engineers" because I couldn't understand shyt they're saying. And people are sleeping on the hires coming out of costa rica and south america. I swear I am noticing more of those guys when dealing with a vendor.
We haven’t even seen the Latin American wave in tech yet, these guys are going to replace the Indians. Better schools and closer to American time zones. It’s starting to happen right now.

Amazing how quickly companies outsourced cybersecurity jobs to foreign countries. I've ended up on several zoom calls for LATAM or APAC Regions where nobody speaks English.
:heh:
I can't wait for this shyt to blow up in Corporations faces.

:dead: :skip: how? there is barely any consequence for a cybersecurity breach

no regulatory measures whatsoever.

In what way?
Smaller companies that don't have deep pockets get shutdown all the time due to a breach. Part of my job is doing Third Party Vendor Risk and the amount of companies going under is growing. Most people have never heard of these middle men. But companies are constantly using third party vendors because they refuse to do anything in house.

Sometimes these breaches are just about paying an ransom. You have espionage at the center of most hacks. The Chinese have probably bankrupt numerous companies after stealing their intellectual property via cyber attack. I've read stories of companies getting competitors shutdown by hiring someone to hack them. Lotta shady shyt goes on in cyberspace.

Nortel collapse linked to Chinese hackers

Yep, I'm part of it, a lot of the higher skilled IT dudes are still from India but confidence is growing more and more everyday on replacing them with local dudes when they quit.

I think Indians still get paid way less. So I doubt any other country will ever dethrone them when it comes to outsourcing.

And there is almost always someone from India working in these other countries. They're literally everywhere on the planet.

Unlike Indians, they don't try to dominate either making them more reasonable to Americans. Most companies never cared about Tech. They just need it. Now we are seeing the signs of that come to life.

Still Hallucinates More Than a Third of the Time

Why is a company whose products can't tell the truth valued at hundreds of billions of dollars?

"But apparently it's different for OpenAI's hot new model. Using SimpleQA, the company's in-house factuality benchmarking tool, OpenAI admitted in its release announcement that its new large language model (LLM) GPT-4.5 hallucinates — which is AI parlance for confidently spewing fabrications and presenting them as fact — 37 percent of the time."

-

Maybe because orwellian language allows them to replace saying it is" wrong', or that it is "lying" with "hallucinations".

"Hallucinations" my ass :hubie:
The best companies aren't having these issues with AI. That's the problem. When you have a tremendous staff who can work with it. AI is tremendously efficient.

Thought this was funny (and informative potentially):

All those people online basically mean 90% of the time:

Probably what most people mean when they say “maStEr A.i!!”:

Now if this was actually about building A.I’s like what those cats making $10M at Meta are doing then it means going to college for an MS or PhD Math or Comp Sci.

No, you’re not expected to go through 10 years of Math.

Most times it means basically get good at prompting :mjlol::heh:

Yep! Fancy way of saying, nikka, learn how to get AI to do the right type of shyt

:mjlol: I can't imagine living in a country with all these guns and using AI/Automation to destroy people's livelyhood while taking away people's social benefits. Are the tech bros even think of what will happen? AI etc. is great if it benefits everyone socially but if it's to further wealth hoard, people are not going to let it fly. U.S has way too many guns to be destroying people's lives like that. Best case scenario is that AI creates more jobs.
They are already doing it.
