One thing I kinda question is the re skilling, like people mention it but what does that even look like, what are people supposed to reskill towards

If ai is going to do what people say it’s going to do it don’t seem like the decision makers don’t got a plan for the avg citizen, it’s like they plan on this shyt being third world/Saudi Arabia status
Regulated and licensed industries. these are industries which have standards baked into law that mandate humans. A lot of states have specific laws which mandate ratios of these classes of employees. They also have board exams. These regulations and board exams are your defense against both H-1B's and AI.

The Country needs to become a nation of doctors, optometrists, dentists, electricians, nurses, pilots, podiatrists, physical therapists, audiologists, architects, etc. And did you notice all the medical ones in there? Non-coincidentally, most of these fields have insane shortages.

I'm incredibly skeptical about techpeople retooling to be managing AI or designing AI or AI prompt engineering. These are going to be the next ones taken because the first people to take these jobs are just going to be used to train the second gen of AI which manges other AI. And whoever is left, will be working in India. My argument is that most of us were smart enough to get through engineering and computer science courses, so we should be able to go into these license fields.

On a loosely related note, I think it's a lot of ego stroking and mental masturbation when we tell ourselves that these companies will realize that AI and h1bs won't be able to do our entire tech stacks.

The article above is proof that these ceo's don't care. The cost cutting for shareholders is more important than the work being accurate.

I agree that the nation should be of a “higher” class of labor compared to what it is now but my main issue is they don’t show the urgency in training for this labor

I’m sure they knew about ai for years but yet we don’t really see bipartisan fully committed effort to train people

fukk ai for a second, we been hearing how the country needs more of this particular type of labor for years but yet we don’t see efforts to train and open doors, and they 100 percent can make it happen but it’s some other shyt going on

This goes into my theory that they sold the country off a long time ago and regular citizens haven’t figured it out yet

we have 300+ Million people. High end jobs won't make up majority, "Regular" people still need things to do which companies are looking to continue to eradicate to maximize profits

what is high end jobs really though?

And I would argue regular people can accomplish and achieve a lot like work “high end” jobs whatever that means

I think making these cookie cutter service jobs the majority is an issue truth be told

Thought this was funny (and informative potentially):

All those people online basically mean 90% of the time:

Probably what most people mean when they say “maStEr A.i!!”:

Now if this was actually about building A.I’s like what those cats making $10M at Meta are doing then it means going to college for an MS or PhD Math or Comp Sci.

No, you’re not expected to go through 10 years of Math.

Most times it means basically get good at prompting :mjlol::heh:

:mjlol: I can't imagine living in a country with all these guns and using AI/Automation to destroy people's livelyhood while taking away people's social benefits. Are the tech bros even think of what will happen? AI etc. is great if it benefits everyone socially but if it's to further wealth hoard, people are not going to let it fly. U.S has way too many guns to be destroying people's lives like that. Best case scenario is that AI creates more jobs.

IT field is looking cooked more and more. In the past few years, I've seen engineering teams from top vendors I was working with go from Smith's to Patels.

Doesn't help with the accent they be having. I've hung up on a few "engineers" because I couldn't understand shyt they're saying. And people are sleeping on the hires coming out of costa rica and south america. I swear I am noticing more of those guys when dealing with a vendor.

Yeah, it has been on a rampage over the last few years. A lot of these 100K plus support engineering roles are going to India, Romania and Mexico. All the Cisco Engineers I worked with was located in Mexico and India. The only time an American would come in is if it became a big escalation.

At my previous company, they moved the jobs over to India and Romania and they eventually let us all go :mjlol: .

I went from Security Engineer to GRC and doing compliance now.

Primary reason they will keep an American on staff now is because they want to have someone handle the clients if they get way too frustrated.

Yeah, A.I needs to generate jobs or we’re going to get it bad.

Before the software industry popped, the electronics industry was going insane: organizers, cameras, gps, etc. a lot of gadgets. Then the Blue LED and smartphones made all of these things go into phones leading to the boom of software jobs.

So the Electronics and Chip industry set the software industry up to blossom and many people who couldn’t find Electronics jobs had an out with going into software.

The software industry now has set the A.I industry up. Problem is whether A.I will be a vacuum and remove jobs rather than generate jobs.
