They've been scamming the immigration system since the 90s. They should be way up.
Yeah that's H-1B, but maaad companies are scaling up offshoring something serious. I've always joked AI stands for Another Indian but it's crazy to see what seems to be a multiplication of something that was already pretty aggressive.

Anecdotal: my company has employee surveys, onshore the scores are terrible but when they use India's high scores to mask the malcontent

I've yet to see any company overcome the timezone issues with the overseas staff. Management never wants to be on these late night calls when disaster strikes. Several tried to get me to travel to India to straighten them out. I'm like you buggin I ain't going to no damn India. You hired these mofos figure it out yourself.

Nearshoring is increasing with Latin America but they tend to cost more than Indian offshore companies from my understanding

So I decided to look deeper in this LLM craze that’s been going on for the last couple of years.

I searched “Can I build my own LLM”.

I was expecting the answer to be alien-like, like my Nikka you gon need 3 data centers, hundreds of people working for you. You gon need to learn this new programming language. But nah. The main ingredient that I saw repeated in all the answers is “having a huge, huge dataset”. Which makes sense. But y’all think back to 2013-2015, when every Tom d1ck and Harry couldn’t stop yapping about big data.

Yes. It’s the same thing. That’s what LLM comes down to.

I tell you these mutherfucckers are downright devilish. They alter something just a little bit and call it something completely different.

The mathematical model has been around for ages, it's not a new concept ofcourse. AI as a mathematical and probailistic concept has been around since the late 50s. Have you ever heard of neural networks, bayes theorem, machine learning. These concepts are not new. The change here is the computer power we use such as NVIDIAs GPUs help process large amounts of information very quickly. AI needs information for it to be fed and it needs fact checking. It's still game changing and will continue to improve further.

I would much rather work with techies in Latin America over Asia and Europe. Very similar work ethic and personalities to Americans. But those other muthafukkas can all go to hell.
