I saw some videos from different angles where it looked staged. Didn't really pay enough attention to see if the videos were AI or not. It wouldn't surprise me if it was fake or real. I still think the Trump assassination attempt was fake. Lying comes natural to those in Government.

Finland is trying to poach top tech and AI talent from the US with 2-week visas and better work-life balance

Finland is trying to attract US tech workers for roles in AI, quantum, and health innovation.

The country is promoting its work-life balance and fast-track specialist visas.

A list of tech open jobs included roles with Oura Health, quantum firms, and universities.

The Nordic country is making a push for tech workers from abroad, with a particular focus on the US. The goal is to attract engineers and researchers working in deep tech, especially in the fields of quantum computing, AI, and health innovation.

Of course, there might be long days once in a while, but it's such a high value, and it's also protected by law that you can't work more than an average of 40 hours per week," Laura Lindeman, head of the Work in Finland program, told Business Insider.

I never thought to ask my coworkers in Europe how much they get paid. Then again they always on freaking vacation. While those in the US work like dogs.
:francis:

They get paid less and Tax to hell BUT they get the social and worker protections. The Vacation and shyt is so normal they dont think about it but now in many European nations there is concern due to declining birthrates they won't be able to keep all the social protections as its expensive as fukk.

Brehs……..
So I’ve been working in this program since early June and I just got placed as a Full Stack dev with a Fortune 500 finance company. :wow::wow::wow::wow::wow:
It’s about a 1 hour drive from where I live and it’s hybrid. Oh and I didn’t even have to do an interview. They’re a repeat client and they’ve taken so many devs from our program they didn’t even want to bother with any interviews. :wow:
I’m literally shaking right now. This doesn’t even feel real. Things don’t usually break this way for me. Two months ago, I was down horrible sending out hundreds of applications, not even getting call backs, about to give up and not even bother trying to get into the field. I didn’t even make the program at first and now I’m a full stack dev. :wow:

I started back on this grind early last year and it’s finally starting to pay off. To anyone reading this, don’t you dare give up. Ignore all the doom and gloom articles and keep grinding. If I can do it so can you. :to:
So here I am 1.5 years later, almost 2, I'm still with the same consultant company working with the same finance company. Unfortunately, I'm still not full-time thus only making $70K living in Jersey.:francis:

I was hoping by the end of this month I would get onboarded as a full-time employee but that hasn't happened. I was moved to a new team last May, and all my coworkers that I joined the company with on that old team got converted to full-time employees. Going to start reapplying to new but no doubt I'll be looking into starting a little side business using Claude. I'm tired of this 9-5 shyt man.

Trying to get anything serious done in Europe is an absolute joke. Anything from eating a late meal, renting a storage unit, or getting a motorcycle fixed is frustrating.

U.S. is truly cutting edge when it comes to efficiency and innovation, it's not even close. If you have any talent/skill/drive in the space, you're either working in the U.S. or working for a U.S. based tech or financial firm in Europe. Many companies have a strong presence in Ireland and Switzerland and there is obviously some innovation in and around Eindhoven.

Also, cost of living is crazy without the salary to match.

If you're not on track to hit Director or VP or whatever, could see the appeal of deepening your skillset for 10 years in the U.S. then "retiring" (working the traditional 40 hour week) to a nordic country, Switzerland, or say, the northern coast of France (Le Havre, etc.).

This is a huge waste of water and electricity :snoop:
There really needs to be regulations put on the usage of AI but of course we know the regulatory agencies are bought out by the people profiting off of AI slop so it wont change anytime soon.
The only good thing coming about now is companies are no longer able to drive their share prices up just by claiming huge investments in AI shareholders are starting to expect them to produce. When the AI fails to do all the fancy use cases like deleting 80% devs and gets exposed as another tool we'll see a huge shift.

For us devs the threat is offshore hires. And while covid allowed folks to job hop and make a lot of money, it also allowed companies the green light to implement infrastructures that could support working from anywhere in the world remotely. But they'll disguise the layoffs as AI related even though forced AI tool usage has been shown to actually slow down senior developers.
