Yep, Stafford arm talent make him a much better NFL prospect than a college one. He was a frustrating college player. I hated watching his inaccurate ass when I would go to UGA games but his arm talent mixed with his good Football IQ made him a no brainer for most scouts.

It's also why Jay Cutler is going to get paid from the Bears or someone else will.

Yes sir. I actually had some Eagles tape in VHS from HS I used to break down the footage. Winston level right now is higher than McNabb that season. That was a 12-4 season for the Eagles if I am not mistaken.

Can you do one of these for my boy Russell Wilson? Where do you think his ceiling is? Great post and analysis.
Your boy Russell is in the league. I generally don't do scouting reports for NFL players since I tend to watch it from an entertainment standpoint.

With that said, I felt Russell had the talent RG3 and Luck had just lacked the height. In all fairness, he is fairly similar to Teddy as a prospect. Wilson out of Wisconsin had a better deep ball, was quicker and faster, superior scrambler, and was more compact in terms of body frame.Teddy has a better pre-snap read, Teddy is more accurate in terms of short throws, and Teddy has better field vision mainly due to his height since Wilson is no slouch at it. Both are top tier talents. It's odd to see both players get down by some scouts. I really think Black pocket passers getting shyt treatment. It's like the one thing Whites clearly have over Blacks and to see it being challenged is killing these white scouts and some football purists. Look at Lou and Mark. Mark was in awe with Teddy while all Lou wanted to talk about was Louisville defense. It's all about the old guard with these whites.

Naw, it's just something I used to seriously want to do in high school for Football and Basketball. I wanted to be a scout and then a GM for either sport if I didn't make it to the NBA. I don't know, something changed. I had a chance to join the Miami Heat as an intern but bytched out of it. Me and their marketing guy really hit it off in New Orleans. He could tell I knew the game in and out as well as the little things I don't talk about here.

I actually created a thread about A.J. a month ago.

http://www.thecoli.com/threads/and-it-happens-nfl-scout-compares-a-j-mccarron-to-tom-brady.169432/

Short summary:

Strengths:
Short Accuracy
Quick release
Excellent footwork
Elite Football IQ
Lighting quick eye
Understands when to throw with touch
Strong v. the blitz
Has moxie
Toughness
Winner
Good velocity on short and intermediate throws.
Willing to make plays when needed and does.

Weaknesses:
Arm strength
Size
Needs great development in terms of accuracy. He can throw players open at times but not often.
Needs weight training
Nothing special in tools or talent
decent mobility for a pocket QB

All in all, system QB, needs development, could be special in time with the right team and coaches. In today's NFL, he really needs the right situation. Will draw comparisons to Andy Dalton but Dalton is more talented out of TCU than A.J. out of Bama but A.J. has less flaws as well leaving room for more potential. While I say he is a better Matt Cassell right now, I will say that his peak potential might be Tommy Legend. But don't bank on it.

2nd round grade.

WalterFootball.com got him going in the 2nd to the Bears. I might be biased. .But if he goes to Chicago AJ is going to be a problem. glad you responded. Props.
