As someone who lived in the East Flatbush pre-gentrification and had their house broken into once, and the victim of an attempted break in about a year later, I can say that it is one of those moments that literally changes your life. Whatever sense of security you had in gone forever. My mom ain't sleep right for a long time, my brothers were scared, felt unsafe and became hyper paranoid. My pops who worked two jobs had to lose some night shifts because moms and lil brothers can't sleep and felt out of sorts not to mention the one time I remember he actually left during the middle of a shift because my mother called him scared because she heard something. I'm actually glad I didn't know who did it because lord knows I had hate in my heart for that person for taking our security. A person's home is their sanctuary. You buy work hard for, and buy everything you have in there. You sleep there. You eat there. You host family and friends there. I can accept that when I leave my house I put myself at risk for whatever. That's the way the streets, but in my home? Nah, man. I'm sorry that a life has been taken, no one should go out like that, but to make it seem as if the homeowner is some sort of monster is totally out of line.

Second time was bout 10 years ago I was sleep, woke up to somebody at the foot of my bed in a mask.
I hopped up literally on my bed like
And yelled at the top of my lungs "IMMA KILL YOU MUTHAFUGGA!!!"
I had NO weapon available, but I think my war cry sent dude into a panic and he escaped out the window after I clammered over to try and apprehend him...in wifebeater and boxer briefs..
And THIS with my mother, sister, and two young nieces in the house..I felt violated and disrespected.
Yet as far as THIS situation and I had a gun and I seen a intruder leaving my home?
I would have gave him a warning to stop OR I'll shoot and grab the lil nikka by the back of his pants...but that's just ME.
And if they aren't a immediate threat to my life, Im not going to kill in cold blood.
