I'm not saying I agree or disagree with the bolded part, but I think I'd like you to clarify it a bit if you would.

The Gospel calls for the Christian woman/man to abandon the belief that he/she can save themselves. According to the faith, if a man/woman is capable of saving their own self then the Gospel is obsolete. In this manner, for a Christian to live solely by a moral compass would mean that the teachings of the God ,detailed in the Bible, would play second fiddle. The bolded wasn't me saying that its wrong for a person to something right from wrong, but if a Christian is living by that alone then they ultimately make themselves god/idol.
