Tell me why my idea is stupid-NBA should get rid of the draft and have to recruit incoming rookies

I actually think the OP's premise would be interesting. Perhaps everyone wants to go to LA or NY, but all they would have to do is limit roster size and be limited to only 1 D-league roster. You can't dump everyone on your roster and even if there is no cap, no team has infinite money, but if a team feels like they have something special, they can ride that team for a few years instead of breaking it up. Would love to see just how good the top teams could get.

You talk about cats not being on that "Kentucky" shyt but they do it at Kentucky and other schools with their actual NBA career on the line. So what exactly is stopping them from doing so with extra money on the line, that really isn't on the line when you think about it? Harrison Barnes just got a max deal for avg 12 ppg on a winning team (after shytting the bed in the Finals). Jordan, Drummond, Tristan Thompson all cashed out on the strength of being garbage men who can roll to the rim. TT wasn't even the starter when he got his deal. Teams will throw money at pretty much any young dude that shows potential.

You look at those squads and every spot is not set in stone. Every squad has a weak spot or a spot that could be better. If an Embiid or AD or KAT or Porzingis type talent comes out of college this year, the Cavs aren't gonna say "not sure if we are gonna be able to get you minutes, we got Tristan you know?" Same with the Warriors and ZaZa. A generational talent would get K. Love or Draymond or pretty much everyone but Bron, Kyrie, Steph, or KD bumped as well. And even if dudes don't get starting gigs it's not like CLE or GSW has a bunch of dudes on the bench that are better than Simmons or KAT :usure: Simmons chooses to try to turn Philly around over being 6th man on the Cavs and getting the same money regardless?

Imagine the 03 Lakers bringing in Bron to play with his favorite player and another guy that he looked up to in Shaq or the 97 Lakers selling Duncan on playing next to Shaq and all their young perimeter studs? What reason would Bron have to pick CLE over that? Same for Duncan and SA. No one with options is gonna chose to play on shytty teams in cold weather/irrelevant cities. You remove any chance for a non-glamour team/market with that set up.

Ain't no future super star or number 1 pick trying to be a 6th man...jahlil okafor

$$$$$ & playing time trumps location as a recruiting tool
shyt teams tank year after year for picks and don't win shyt
the draft process is bullshyte jajajahahaa

I saw Golden State #4 option in a commercial getting a massage. Running down the court with the Warriors made Draymond a star. Imagine there being a Melo, Bron, Bosh, Wade superfriends this coming draft and all deciding to join the same team. How do you stop it?

Cause you don't have 4 spots. You still have 2 and one of them will be on a 2nd rounders contract. Good luck telling your boy to take 2nd round money when he can get top 10 money

Everyone saying "what's going to stop the, from going to GS or Cle"

Well, salary cap for one.

With the removal of the draft the rookies would not be restricted to a rookie pay scale, therefore teams would still have a salary cap and the shyttyteams would be able to throw WAY more money at the young rooks.

It works
It wouldn't because owners would never agree to removing a rookie scale. For that you might as well em in out of high school and then the players would fight that.

Also, with no rookie scale = no restricted free agency, so essentially even if you lucked out and signed a top prospect out of college, you're really just developing him for his next team after 4 years

The Weird Side
Someone who wants to get paid and play right away.

Also you say who's going to want to go to (said teams)

Then why even have those teams in the first place?
Yes eventually they would have to sign somewhere...but if the top twenty recuits are being recruited by say eight big market teams, all of which can pay the most money because of the market they are in, you telling me they would go to NO over LA:patrice: only way it could work is if you haveba ctract cap, not just a salary cap....but that opensva who notherbcan of worms.

And the teams are there because there is a market for them, but thats whybthere is big market teams and small market teams...

it stops itself
because unless you are retarded you aren't going somewhere for less cash and no playing time
if dray spends his career on the bench that means no dough no commercial spots

think about it teams would recruit according to best fit and players would be able to go where they could flourish draft process really is about suits saving money
& keeping the upper hand over the talent

yeah they do
but how many of those bench warming ass nikkas are getting guap now¿
scholarship athletes go for the diploma and the leftover groupie p*ssy jahahahahaa

blue chip future pros do that one year bid then hit the door straight to the checks

Some teams get more than 2 spots though because they traded for picks. What if you're a team that doesn't need the spot?

None of the big free agents go to NYC, LA, or Chicago as is, so this doesn't even make sense.

:what: what you posted don't even make sense

your comparing a big time free agent (whom most likely is looking to get a max deal & play on a team that can win now)
over the past several seasons -those 3 markets either didn't have the cap space; players to win or both

You don't see a difference between the 6ers and the Cavs/Warriors? :usure: There is really no point in taking a lesser role on a bad team.
