Temple is and has been buying up the area since I was in undergrad in 2002

But that is slowly but surely pushing out the Black residents aka gentrification

They should have done like Yale and buy up half of the city

Yup.

The reality is a lot of these legacy schools were broke as fukk back in the day and simply couldn’t afford the land. Look at old pics of these schools when they were the “business” in the area and the shyt is completely empty.

Then the area gets developed by other entities and they can’t do shyt about it except get their weight up and try to buy up the land — which ain’t cheap. If an Ivy wanted my land to build on I’m fleecing them so their endowment feels it in the gut.

These same schools had no issue owning slaves and leveraging those very slaves so they could stay afloat. Columbia and Harvard are BOTH guilt of this. Like many things in this country they wouldn’t be shyt without their “helpers”
