Anybody ever watch Judge Mathis? Dude can't do math at all and needs Doyle to use a calculator for the most basic math. I wonder how he got out of college while being that bad at math. He admits he never was good at it. It's so many jobs that don't require math. It shouldn't be mandatory in community colleges.

I really have like a diagnosed disability in math, they had a counselor or something like that in 9th grade, I was failing math so poorly, he did some tests, like embarrassing simple shyt, shapes and colors, and, yeah, I have a learning disability. It just doesn't work in my mind the way it does for most people....I can do most simple math, but even something like 14 X 7,(off top of the head) I'd use a calculator on. To pass a community college basic math class, like 101 or something, I was at the tutoring sessions everyday, for the whole semester, and I barely passed. Since I was a kid, I just can't do math. Algebra, anything beyond the absolute basics is impossible for me. It's frustrating that I can't complete any formal education without the math courses...I want to pay off a professor, or something.

im guessing your doing a business degree or something... and calc 101 was a pre-req?

i was in the same situation... i failed horribly the first time around but i was one of the worst students ull ever see... skipped classes and all that. second time around was much easier did it with a friend in summer and still got a c+ but it was enough to move me on.

the fact is... you have to literally have to do every type of starter question over and over and over again...

even if you dont get the right answer as long as u know the proper steps you will be ok... the classes are curved and most students dont do that well.

you'll learn after the midterm that part marks are the way to pass calculus... as long as u know what to do in each situation and u can right out the formula and plug the right stuff in you should be able to pass.

good luck sir.

if I could go back id be an actuary Actuary Salary Data - Average Actuary Salaries | PayScale
Job Description for Actuary
The Actuary will routinely use critical thinking, problem solving and strong analytical skills to aid in or drive decision making. This analysis is often related to the analyses of statistical data with the intention to create probability tables that are used to assess risk and liability for future benefits. Strong communication skills and the ability to explain highly technical information to a broad range of audience members are highly desired skills among actuaries.
Actuaries typically work with complex and broad data sets such as mortality, accident, sickness, disability and retirement rates to aide Insurance companies in assessing risk among different classifications of people and behaviors. The financial services industry employs a number of actuaries also. The actuary is responsible for mathematically identifying and interpreting the various contingencies and the associated likelihood of these events occurring. This analysis may be used to ascertain premium rates and cash reserves that are required to ensure that future benefits are paid and the companies risk is minimized while the revenue is maximized.
An Actuary typically has an advanced degree in actuarial science, mathematics or economics and belongs to the Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries (FSA), and is a Member of American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). In the United States, actuaries must pass rigorous examinations to become fully credentialed. Actuaries spend the majority of their time gathering, analyzing and interpreting the output of large data sets. Actuaries work almost exclusively in office settings. Actuary has consistently ranked as one of the best jobs in the United States in multiple national studies spanning the past decade.

For all those downing their math abilities in this thread...

I was TERRIBLE at math growing up. I can't emphasize the word terrible enough. However, I discovered in my case, I just didn't know how to study well enough and study the right way for that particular type of material. Practice, Practice, Practice is the key. Whoever said math is not logical couldn't be more wrong. Its very logical and the processes/theorems are repeatable and provable over and over again depending on what level you're working at. Its as logical as you can get. I think the word you might of been looking for is intuitive. Its not naturally intuitive and the trick is to remember the processes which you do...through practice.

Like I said, I was terrible growing up but once I put my mind to it and learned to study the right way, I'm now aceing calc classes and other math related subjects.
