Tessa Thompson refused to say Philly slang “Jawn” in “Creed III.” Is anyone else too good to use African American slang?

It's fine.
I hate when actors, who obviously don't speak or use certain words or dialect in real life, try and force slang terms. It sounds cringey as fukk.
Insecure used to have that same problem IMO when they used the n-word.

Plus, plenty of folks in the community don't use slang or speak proper.

Of course, you also change as you grow. They're living in the Hollywood Hills in a $20 million plus mansion so lifestyle change.
So you hate (bad) actors that can’t get the accents/language of the characters they’re portraying down correctly?

I agree with that, and I guess it makes sense….if Tessa and the film team felt like she couldn’t get it down, even after the 2 other films. Might as well ditch it.

But the idea of evolving beyond from where they came from in certain contexts is flippant, even tho it’s also real.

Y’all really calling her a c00n for not saying one slang term. Maybe she takes her character seriously and feels the level they are on in the movie wouldn’t make sense for her to still be using slang as adults. It’s a up north term, it’s not like it’s some beloved word by the African American community. Some of y’all just miserable. That’s a beautiful black woman representing black women in a positive light. I’m from Atlanta, but if I was an actor I wouldn’t wanna say shawty all the time for my character if my character was an adult over 30 :dahell:
