Concept is important, where discussing a record holistically is concerned. Illmatic was a bunch of random fillers and ducktales. The social issues in contemporary time appear explicitly in T&Y and are an accurate depiction of Lupe's past.

How the album is sequenced, I think Illmatic has absolutely no flaws sequencing, the tracklist is absolutely great, but this season thing Lupe went with, and the interludes were wow. not a new idea by any means, but the execution was >>>> so T&Y

I like T&Y and I personally think it's better, maybe over done lyrically, but that's the only serious knock against this album. Both are 9.5+/10 tho
