You know when I listen to Freeway and hear some sh!t that he spit on Kanye's "Two Words", I'm not enjoying it because I have some perverse turn on at the prospect of it being abstract. I enjoy it because once I hear him rip it over that crazy beat I automatically get that :scust: face, followed by :whoo:. It's just dope. No crazy double entendres, or multis, or rhymes that's made to be deciphered...just crazy HIP HOP music. I didn't get that with Tetsuo and a lot of other cats didn't get that feeling either. I get that feeling with alot of Beanie Sigel tracks. A lot of The Game tracks. Nas. Ghost. Not too much with current Lupe. Cut this talk about cats have to be insecure that's why they're not feeling the album.

Nah..I think u misunderstood why I said that...I said that cause the overall tone of what the posters was sayin in the thread felt that way...son Pac is the GOAT to me..Nas second...and Pac was one of the most straight to the point rappers out there...but I also appreciate his songs like Blasphemy where u can decipher different meanings from what he's sayin and it isn't so straight forward...same with Nas...Nas has PLENTY of rhymes where u can take different meaning from...and he has straight forward shyt too...which is why people look at him as one of the dopest poets... His abstract shyt.."suicidal..high puffin so much la..I saw a dead bird flyin thru a broken sky.."....or shyt like his verse on Bravehearted where the entire thing is a metaphor...I appreciate both forms...and it takes a genius to master either one...so no need to downplay one or the other...especially if the shyt done exceptionally well...

In my opinion, and various others', the shyt is too long. Yea "Good Times" is 8 minutes, but I mostly listen to that 80s post disco shyt like Unlimited Touch and Kashif.... songs in that genre range from 4 to 6 minutes tops and are about 4 minutes long for the single version. "Good Times" OG version is 3:24 long, the long one was for the clubs. Mural is too fukking long for a rap song.

shyt is boring as hell, I've heard longer songs that kept my attention for the entirety. Too many sub par snooze fests. People seem to want no-one to have an opinion that don't like the album lol, for some reason lol. I say let everyone say how they truly feel.

Point taken, but those MCs don't overdo it. Overdo it to a point where it diminishes the overall "feel" of an album. It gets to the point where it's overkill. Or maybe Lupe just doesn't have certain qualities that Nas and Pac have that would make it enjoyable to listen to for a whole album. Maybe Lupe lacks Pac's commanding and crowd joining charisma and passion or Nas' street poetical flair and ill voice. He's not a magnetic enough MC anymore to me. Just weird and patronizing most of the time. Or maybe it's the beats. Let's be real...as good as some of the beats are on Tetsuo and Youth, none of them have that head nodding, "I'll throw this on in a blunted out cypher with my homies" dopeness. There's just something about this album that doesn't make it enjoyable to a point where I'd want to listen to it again. I tried 3 times, but naw. 3.5 album to me and I definitely don't have some type of "inferiority" complex because I feel like Lupe has some MC superiority over my favorite MCs. His brand of raps and this album just aren't that great to me. Good, but not great...and definitely not classic like some delusional cats are calling it.

and Ur sayin its too long for a rap song which I believe is untrue...If u say u don't fukk wit the song..that's cool...but unless u felt that way about other long hip hop songs...it doesn't sound like a valid opinion to me...and there's PLENTY of classic songs thruout different genres of music that is as long if not longer than 8 minutes...I bet u thought Princes "Purple Rain" was dope...right?...there's ALOT of dope songs that are long...Too Short Freaky Tales the saga continues...Kanye's Last Call is fukkin 12 minutes....Jay Electronica Act 1...15 minutes...I can keep goin fam...U can't tell an artist how long THEIR song should be..lol

None of those 8 minute songs are by an artist who seems like he's basking in the euphoria of it's abstractism. Just long, enjoyable records. Ooooo, and I like Mural, btw.
