Which sounds nothing like this Lupe album....what is your point? Most of Outkast's discography is extremely straight forward.
And you're completely missing my point.
The shyt that is considered classic was not, by and large, some kind of verbal Rubix Cube that people needed to figure out. It was fairly straight forward....Pac, BIG, Nas, Jay, DMX, BONE, etc.
The type of shyt Lupe does existed but it was extremely marginalized....to the point of being inconsequential. The fan base of all that weird underground shyt knew that, and played their position. They didn't throw a fit, or question people's intelligence because they preferred Jay-Z to Anticon. The same cannot be said for Lupe's fan base, or this album.
Fred.

lupe would be much closer to andre three-thousand, than this. Get real.I love lupe but I haven't listened to testuo & youth yet, I just want something to bump that I don't need to use Google translate to listen to, ain't nobody got time to be breaking down metaphors and bars every time I listen to the album.

Yeah bullshyt posts like this does you a disservice.Damn Lupe is stuck between a rock and a hard place he can't win he's either to preachy and complex to the haters or when he dumbs it down the songs come out contrived. I'm personally glad he stayed true to his roots especially in a genre where only turn up music is appreciated do you Wassulu
I havent said much on this album, Ive been listening to it and drawing my own meanings without really reading any text or trying too hard
For me personally, I dont really indulge in the multiple meanings and RapGenius-esque breakdowns of the songs. I did try spinning the album backwards and it sounded surprisingly good, better even. Ending the album on Mural makes much more sense than starting with it.
I tip my hat to this album strictly because Lupe demonstrates a level of craft that I have yet to see displayed elsewhere in rap. Sure you dont HAVE TO be all extra with the multis and entendres, but every now and then I catch something he said and its really pretty fukking crazy and impressive.
We get so much disposable music, week after week, year after year, when someone takes the time to make something like thism I truly consider it a work of art and proof that hip-hop is more valuable in the artistic hierarchy than some people may care to admit. The album exemplifies SKILL and brilliance, even if it does border on being over-indulgent and cryptic a lot of the time.
Hyperbole will cause us to debate whether the album is "INSTANT CLASSIC ZOMG" or a "boring piece of shyt for nerds and CACs", but Lupe did something special here.
What other album can you realistically compare this to?

Had to rep you for that. Not rep like sets at a gym when you flex/or rep like possesesions that have been repossessed/by feds who rep laws passed by congressional reps/or repetitious patterns like fifty flights of steps/more like rep like "my name is my name" like Marlo/rep like you can borrow my car until tomorrow/because your word is your word and it's your word that'll follow/you wherever you go like Wee Bey told Delonda/rep like your word is your bond not a bond ta/get you out of jail or gold bond powder/not powder like that white, not that white like flour/not flour like flower that you pick from a garden/my album just flopped but it wasn't James Harden/not Harden like my stans' dikks when listening to my album/but harden like an album in a garden with a flower doing reps in a gym with a slim jim while watching the wire in the house of congress *smart-dumb nikka brain malfunction*

just listen to it and enjoy what you get out of it. After these last few days, like I was saying... Lupe haters love shytting on his fans but just look at the reactionary threads that have been made over Kendrick's latest track and Drake's projectI've see WAY worse reactionary threads made for an album release by an artist's stans than this album has.

Breh, get the fukk outta here with that. I've listened to all of those you listed, and none of them have ever put out anything as cryptic as Tetsuo & Youth. If you can't understand Lupe Fiasco got forbid you ever listen
to some El-P or Cannibal Ox or Ka or Aesop Rock or Saul Williams
hell even a lot of Blu's music is highly thematic and heavily focused
on metaphors and similes.
just listen to it and enjoy what you get out of it.
Biggest problem with this stuff is you have folks hearing Lupe say "first you playing pool, then you throwing darts" and they spin it into Lupe saying Tesla was a Mormon or whatever.
If the most you do is play the tracklisting backwards to get the story of dude being born, selling drugs and dying in jail, then that's what you get and enjoy it for that.
Don't be listening to these fools talking about him saying "and what about the chicken" is an allegory for Miley Cyrus twirking or whatever the fukk.
Don't let cats ruin your experience just cause they swear they see the meaning of life in abstract art and you just see a yellow line on a piece of blue canvas.

Breh, Aesop Rock's whole schtick is being "Cryptic" to the point where heBreh, get the fukk outta here with that. I've listened to all of those you listed, and none of them have ever put out anything as cryptic as Tetsuo & Youth.

No, Aesop in nonsensical, Lupe is cryptic. Huge differenceBreh, Aesop Rock's whole schtick is being "Cryptic" to the point where he
rights absolute nonsense and people look for double or triple meanings.
He's the epitome of what you're talking about, Lupe fiasco however
isn't.
Walt already expounded on this so I don't need too.
No, there is no difference and I'm entirely sure you're saying this because you're partialNo, Aesop in nonsensical, Lupe is cryptic. Huge difference
