I would also say look on job hiring sites and see what they are paying for the roles you're interested in working as well as how many views and people have applied to those positions. I know some places are more competitive than others for pay and positions. I've seen a couple Devs and coders be disgruntled with the current job market but overall I think you'll be able to land something nice depending on the area you end up liking the most.

Yeah I know it’s much harder to get a job in tech especially coding/development wise but I’m sure it still worth while…. That’s why I’m going the awl and python route and may do one more before diving into AI… so I have a couple different routes I can’t take but I appreciate the advice. I’m sure I don’t have an easy road ahead but I’m kinda “over” my current career field

for VA, i would say northern VA is a safe bet, the closer to DC, the better (alexandria, springfield, lorton, falls church, tysons/mclean, fairfax, vienna, fair oaks)

i loved my time in richmond a true college town, even when school's out, there's still a good nightlife if you've got good networking skills - - shockoe bottom, the fan, museum disctrict, midlothian, church hill, willow lawn)

Yes sir! That’s my type of shyt… I like the sound of that. I’ve had my lil weekends in Arlington and Alexandria and enjoyed it eat time, I like the neighborhoods and the women. There were decent places to eat as well. Found this adult arcade that stayed open til 3 that was dope too

I stay in South Grand Prairie. Perfect distance between Dallas and Fort Worth. They building a bunch of stuff off the (relatively) new 161 tollway near I-20. About 15 min from Jerry World/Globe Life, good mix of food spots.

Used to live in Katy (western Houston suburb). South of I-10 is what you want in that area. Mo City was cool back in the 90s/early 00s when I stayed there, but I prefer Katy to it at your age.

Grew up in San Antonio so don't have as much intel there. Even though I got family there, it's too slow for me compared to Houston/Dallas (still Spurs gang all day though ). Austin is insane price-wise, so don't even consider it.

My man dropping gems, I appreciate it…. I heard Austin was cool… didn’t know it was that expensive tho lol… and I enjoy cool hip shyt…. With out the 25 and under crowd lmaooo which I know is easier said than done

Lived in Dallas for about 2 years and been in the dmv most of my life.

DMV is so much more expensive than Dallas, it makes it a hard sell.

It will check all your boxes outside of cost of living but that will permeate every decision unless you ballin. Which on the coli, everyone is

Dallas is cool, the only negatives to me were the summer heat and the segregated feel of the city.

Black folks stuck with blacks, Mexicans w/ Mexicans, white with white. Which ain’t the biggest issue but it was something I wasn’t used to. But no state tax is a huge boost.

I been to both Texas and Virginia and I saw enough to know that there were a couple areas I wouldn’t mind living in both, but my knowledge is still limited a bit considering….

What are some areas you think would be worth heading too, that are peaceful, not much fukk shyt, decent housing market, good neighborhoods that aren’t too too far from a popping area with alright night life…

I been to Dallas, TX and was feeling it

Just to put into context, I’m 37, been single for a year or so now, no kids, 2 dogs, in medical case management and freelance writing but I’m studying now to head into tech and I’m a fit nikka

Yeah not the biggest deal but at the same time segregation can be weird and awkward too… another way, I love my black people… and prefer to be around them but a mix is also refreshing sometimes

And yeah I lived in PG county for a couple years and worked and hung out in DC for like 6 or 7 years so I know how ridiculous that cost of living can get lmaooo

Going by your criteria, Dallas, Houston, and NOVA checks all of your boxes. However the Texas metros are more spread out. NOVA is still spread out but you have DC at your doorstep where hot spots are just short walks or train rides away. All three of these areas has tons of shyt to do but DC is only 4 hours away from NYC and/or the beaches.

DMV is way more expensive tho and you will make more money in NOVA. But your money will go further in the Texas metros. I like Austin but still a bit too small for me and I’m not the biggest fan of San Antonio. Nice city but it’s ok.

For tech jobs, NOVA (especially) , Austin, and DFW wins. You have tons of options in tech in this area.
