ok i dont completely disagree with you. i look at voting in national elections as damage control right now. obviously the problems black americans face arent going to be solved by the federal government. but having someone whose policy is in line with black interests means at least we wont have to actively push back against presidential policies like now.

I just think building up the community first, then when we're one with one goal in mind, we could look to lobby politicians to do what we want them to do. I dont think you can do both at the same time.

theres a difference between those two things to me. they dont need to have our interests at heart for their policies to be in line with our interests.
i wouldnt call obama a pro-black president but his justice department was actively investigating racial bias and profiling in nationwide police departments. trumps justice department completely stopped that. this is an example of how one presidents policies can be more in line with black interests than another.
