Not to sound like a Texas apologist but they put a lot of players in the league and have a title in the last decade. Should they have achieved more than they have so far? Absolutely. Still they have done pretty well for themselves recently. Being a sooner I understand shytting on them does come natural for you though so I get where you're coming from.

Edit: didn't know the list was going to come out like that, my bad.

Honestly, though I'm a Sooner alum, I'm also a realist. If Texas was what they are hyped to be, I'd admit. Just as I admit currently that OU is wetting the bed in recent years.

But I'm just saying I never understood the hype year in and year out for them b/c outside of Young and McCoy(and Charles), they have zero offensive stars. You could say the same for OU perhaps, but OU's recruiting classes have never been what Texas' were. Well, in terms of rankings.

Longhorns going to smash mouth football was insanely stupid

Nah i think that helped them they just dont have a QB/Leader to pull it off.

TCU & OU just completely smacked them up with no regard :dro:

I wasn't taking a jab at you bro. I'm friends with some sooners and I laugh at their longhorn jokes just like a laugh at the sooner jokes texas alums tell. It's a great rivalry.

I agree they have underachieved overall but I just think if you look at Mack's tenure it's not as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. My biggest criticism of him would be lack of conference titles but Stoops is just a flat out better coach and manager of a program and has taken home most of the hardware.

Also, a lot of people blame Mack but imo he's just the puppet. Their athletic director Dodds has the perfect head coach in his mind. He doesn't care about winning as much as he cares about making money. If Mack can make him more money than a better x's and o's coach can then Mack will be the coach.

It's sad because I watched FSU go through this. Seeing Mack Brown today was like looking at Bobby Bowden in his final years. Just gotta hope he gets fired or retires sooner rather than later, he's hurting that program at this point.

I came into this thread to say the same thing... It's eerily Similar :merchant:

Muschamp over at Florida like :smugcena:

I'm a Texas alum and I have been saying that Mack Brown needs to go for years. He is not a good football coach, he was a great recruiter, but how hard is it to recruit football players to come to Texas?....They have world class facilities, very good academics, national clout, their own channel, bomb ass city with fine ass women, etc. But once you start losing for a few years, these young kids forget about your program. They go to whatever the hot school is at the time, that is why this shyt goes in cycles. They should have went to Muschamp after that pitiful season a few years back. The school needs someone with an NFL pedigree, like a Jon Gruden or something.

Recruiting rankings are overrated, however, as well as Texas has done in the last 10 years, they probably should have done better.......

The ideology for that program has gotten stale.

Its time to get a mindset that matches the resources down there.....

If Ole Miss can get a top 10 class and Auburn can muster a top 10 class with an entirely new staff that's only been in place 8 weeks well, there may be a need for some change down in Longhorn country....
