This thread is a prime example of the problem as a whole. Folks are debating red versus blue states while ignoring the lobbying and special interests groups pushing this gun culture for sales. With whites, guns are tied to patriotism and political ideology. For people of color (mainly blacks) guns are tied to music and other outlets glorifying violence. I hate saying it but these special interest people have done a great job. They made it where talking points and assertions triumph over critical thinking on issues.

This is Domestic Terrorism, fukk all that Active Shooter bullshyt.
How? Once you are an adult what can you do? The mother or grandmother of one mass shooter a few years ago called the police on her son/grandson about the guns he was buying and his mental state, but the cops said they could do nothing about it since they were legal. When the system is constructed in a way to allow people with mental issues to get guns with little ways to deal with it, this is what you get.

I agree that won't work.
But don't a lot of these lunatics go buy the gun, pop the tag, then crash out?
So I'd say start by not manufacturing thousands of new guns. Outlaw ammo. Sure people can make their own ammo, but you not gonna make 1000 high tech armor piecing hollow points. You gonna make a handful of shytty bullets. If we're lucky the person kills themselves when their first shytty bullet malfunctions.
Then, if machine guns are not allowed in public, which they really shouldn't be, the cops can cop out on anyone they catch with one outdoors.
Eventually the existing guns have to bleed out of being usable. That part will take a very long time, but we can start to REDUCE the number of mass shootings instead of what's happening now.
