It's definitely off base, especially since the only reason this weather turned into a "disaster" in Texas is due to government incompetence and greed.

Mind you there was a 100 car accident on Fort worth Texas a week before this snow storm, and that still wasn't enough to get these dummies to do anything to prepare

This mindset does NOT work in a fully functioning society, which many republicans and people who think like this desperately wish America was not. This isn't the fukking wild west. Imagine a doctor telling you hold your own nuts, shouldve went to med school and made it happen for your sick family member. They pay taxes and utilities. It's perfectly reasonable to expect heat and power from these companies.

People paid their electric and heating bills to survive, the very utilities they need to keep warm and make a hot meal.

I'm not familiar with the situation in Texas. In Illinois, when there is tornado weather, electricity typically goes out. There's nothing the electric companies can do but wait things out and try to restore power after. You either have to wait on the electric company or you can have contingency plans in place like having backup generators.

All I'm saying in general is that we should anticipate disasters and have a survival plan in place.

When disasters happen, no matter whose responsible, there are two types of people, those who sink and those who swim.

I get it. Nobody wants to hear that right now and I agree.
