I'm not familiar with the situation in Texas. In Illinois, when there is tornado weather, electricity typically goes out. There's nothing the electric companies can do but wait things out and try to restore power after. You either have to wait on the electric company or you can have contingency plans in place like having backup generators.

All I'm saying in general is that we should anticipate disasters and have a survival plan in place.

When disasters happen, no matter whose responsible, there are two types of people, those who sink and those who swim.

I get it. Nobody wants to hear that right now and I agree.

Smh. Libertarians/conservatives always imagine themselves on top :mjlol:

People that own their own homes likely have a generator... maybe even just a small one that can keep the frige on and some lights.

However hooking up your whole home to a generator ain't cheap. I'm sure you know this

Also, plenty of people that live in condos or have association rules can't even have them.

Most people cant even store great amounts of extra perishable foods cuz they only have one refrigerator even if they have power.

And where does the mayor think people are gonna get fresh water? Take a bucket and walk on down to a non existent body of water? Smh

This isn't 1700. We've become dependent on modern utilities... and if someone pays their bill, it should be provided to the customer.

It's perfectly reasonable to expect heat and power from these companies.

We're talking about natural disasters. It is not perfectly reasonable to expect heat and power during a natural disaster. We can certainly hope for it. But it's, in fact, the opposite. We should expect heat and power to go out during such an event. That's how you prepare and make contingency plans.

I get this too, but this is partially because of the shytty infrastructure

Homie is basically saying it’s their fault for not being prepared when actually it’s the governments fault for not being prepared.

Thats like saying the people in that accident should’ve bought snow tires when the city should’ve salted the roads

The state of Texas was given recommended action plans to put in place 10 years ago the last time this happened so that it wouldn’t happen again.......They did not.

Weird.

I'm in PA. Never experienced blackouts here with snow and cold weather.

It's almost like Texas is inefficient with managing their power during inclement weather.

Thats another thing that let me know he was an insufferable fakkit

Firefighter came to help his bytch ass and stupid ass wife out but because he was too “short” to see inside his probably lifted truck (another way weak men overcompensate), all of a sudden he’s trying to make it look like he’s some sort of “alpha” because he had to “do it himself”...

dude screams insecurity... then going to tell people who pays his salary to “stop asking for handouts”... in a snowstorm that knocked out power in your city
