Ol’Otis
The Picasso of the Ghetto
My opinion halfway through the article was that Harris seemed too conceited to be able to produce true art. I know that sounds contradictory since his belief in himself is a successful product of rebelling against certain systems; but anyone can go too far. And it seems he has.
Unfortunately, Slave Play was amateurish, trite, corny and misogynistic. I found it disturbing and not in a good way. I did not, and do not want to think about it. Not because of it's topic, but because it got so much hype and really wasn't any good. The brutality just seemed to be brutal for no reason...gratuitous. Yes, and it was all about women, yet I had the impression the playwright doesn't even like women
