The crazy thing is that it actually perfectly can. Humans just refuse to believe that they are the problem, so they'd rather blame earth for not having more resources.

Thanos could do anything with the Infinity Gauntlet and all of the stones in it, but instead of creating more space and resources, he decided to get rid of half of the living beings?

He just wanted to flex. He didn’t care about quality of life.

He could have created more resources, but what happens when that runs out? What happens when the people who have a ton get a ton more?
Could he create infinite resources? I guess so, that could really screw up the ego systems and do more harm than help.

erasing half of everything is a pretty decent plan. Creating more would probably seem more like a band aid than a fix.
