That dark period of the NBA where everyone wanted “my own team” everyone wanted to be like Mike just jacking up shots … a few 2 man teams broke up 👀

Tracy McGrady is one of the most overrated players of this past generation. People loved his highlights and high scoring stats, but he never put it together in a winning way. No reason a “HOF” can never get out of the first round ever as an active player. It was always disrespectful to put him on Bean’s level.

T-Mac fukked up leaving Toronto.

I understand why he did but they would have been special. He was jealous of his own cousin.

We need to put this in proper context

T-Mac left Toronto not just to be the “Man” on his own. He left to team up with Grant Hill, who was already an established superstar, and possibly Tim Duncan, who was a hair’s breath away from leaving San Antonio at the time.

Duncan didn’t end up signing at the last minute and Hill never fully recovered from his ankle injury so that put McGrady square in the spotlight and he proved he had what it took to be a superstar but the rest of that Orlando squad was middling at best.

He fukked up because G. Hill wasn’t healthy. Y’all act like McGrady left with the intention of becoming the #1 player on the team; he left with the intention of being #2 behind a guy who was better than Vince.

I'm curious, how many times were T-Mac's teams the favorite in those series over all those years?

Alan Houston and Grant Hill would have done damage in Detroit.
Me and the homie @NormanConnors were just talking about that a couple weeks ago. They were the perfect compliment to each other's games. That was something that could have really been built on. But I understand why both ended up leaving.

Should have stayed with Vince.

you get to play with your cousin. Who at the time was one of the best young superstars in the league. You can grow together. Plus VC wasn’t a ball hog.

Grant hill was coming off a bad ankle injury at damn near 30 years old. But I get how the idea of playing with him and Duncan would be intriguing.

I think T Mac just wanted to play in his hometown Florida and get out of Vince shadow. T Mac was in Toronto before Vince and once Vince came there he stole the show. And rightfully so :manny: Air Canada
