That dark period of the NBA where everyone wanted “my own team” everyone wanted to be like Mike just jacking up shots … a few 2 man teams broke up 👀

The premise of the take is disgusting.

I’m tired of the half-truth hot takes of the current NBA, and NFL…but now they wanna revise the past with their half truths

shyt is nasty
all the fall out from the myth of there being a goat

there is no goat

once you know that then you can really love the sport for it's own sake

How was Yao Kobe go win rings when Yao had injury issues

Yea because Yao was injured every single year :stopitslime:

Yao played in the 2004, 2005, 2007 playoffs back when Kobe was begging for help. I promise you Prime Kobe would've gotten further with Yao than T-Mac. Yao was putting up 20ppg in most of those playoffs. Kobe was outscoring teams by himself. So yea, Kobe would've done better with him.

So basically when Harden left OKC and Kyrie left Cleveland…? :troll:

If only Zach LaVine and Andrew Wiggins could co-exist :francis:

So glad we’re over that dark period in the 2010s

The Yay
I said on another thread NBA hot take culture has crept to the NFL.

QB Wins is a big deal now
Playoff wins are a big deal for QBs now
Super Bowl appearances are a big deal for QBs now

In the past it was a team accomplishment.

For elite QBs, nobody gave a fukk about playoff wins and Super Bowl appearances.
For elite QBs, it was ALL about # of Super Bowl WINS.

I hear more about Burrow's/Bengals Super Bowl appearance than Stafford's/Rams Super Bowl WIN.
To be fair, nfl was always on that shyt with qbs.
It's been like that all my life. Qb wins were always touted around like pitcher wins.

Shiiit Joe Namath will be mentioned 100 times before you will hear someone actually talks about an AFL defense holding an NFL team to like one score.

Tracy McGrady is one of the most overrated players of this past generation. People loved his highlights and high scoring stats, but he never put it together in a winning way. No reason a “HOF” can never get out of the first round ever as an active player. It was always disrespectful to put him on Bean’s level.

People forget he blew a 3-1 lead as well.

Namath is known not just for anyone win, but guaranteeing a Super Bowl win.

I had a typo on my post

For elite QBs, it should* ALL about # of Super Bowl WINS.

A lot of factors here

Back then obviously salaries weren't as big as these days and all players had to work hard to get really paid big. Being the man on the team meant bigger contract.

T-Mac was indeed jealous of his cousin but it's not like Orlando was trash on paper. He saw opportunity in teaming up with Grant Hill and also Orlando was very close to his home so that's also one of the reasons he went there.

Back then a lotta NBA players did not want to play in Toronto.

Was it a mistake for him to leave Toronto? Probably yeah, because his next teams had injuries worse than what Vince had (Hill in Orlando and Yao in Houston).

Basketball fans will never grasp the concept that winning titles is a team accomplishment.

The year that Wilt Chamberlain averaged 50 points and 26 rebounds for the season, he did not win the championship.

Even if 1 player can make a larger impact in basketball compared to 1 football player on a roster of 53 guys, it doesn’t mean 1 basketball player is responsible for a championship.

Kobe the same guy that "quit" in multiple games by refusing to shoot because he was petty. What was he trying to prove in those games ?
He didn't quit. He proved his detracors right. He scored liek 20 in the first half and they were down like 10 plus. 2nd half he tried to get his incompetent teammates involved and well, they got crushed. Then the ame haters who sai he shouldve got them involved, got mad and called him a quitter because he got them involved and they couldn't accomplish shiit.

TMac played in Houston for 5 seasons. In those 5 seasons he and Yao only played together in two playoff series 05 and 07. Crazy looking back at it.
