shyt was dope to me, in fact i'll be "that guy" and say the initial kendrick verse wasn't really all that once you take out him actually saying names, that was more flash/bang than anything.
Also...while i'm sure you just don't like lupe, I wouldn't really call this any of this exchange between kendrick and others diss records, the initial verse was really just him trying to rally nikkas in HIS circle and hip hop in general to bring their bars out
Acting like this needed to be some kind of bare bones direct diss song implies that people were supposed to take this personal, shyt is just an exhibition game at this point, the first person that takes it there is going to look funny, especially if they weren't even mentioned by name.

Nah, I actually was a big Lupe fan until he got all weird on nikkas. If this, or anything he has done over the last several years, was dope...I would've been elated. But it ain't. shyt is wack.
And it's kind of funny that exactly everything you said to downplay Kendrick's verse are the main reasons why it was so dope. Him calling out name's and eliciting this type of response from the hip hop community is exactly why it's dope. Lupe should've came much better. I'm glad it got unstickied. I mean if you listen to joell's response that's just bars straight through, I mean he has the luxury of coming after but the reaction that kendrick got just from naming names in this era is what really carries it, the rest of that shyt just kinda ran together for me.
And form follows function is one of my favorite songs in the last few years, and i'm not gonna front like FNF2 was my shyt like that, I only really liked a handfull of joints.
What a nikka got to elaborate? Track was wack. The first two thirds of the shyt was some pseudo intellectual tripe and he did nothing on the last third to generate the acclaim ya'll Lupe stans were trying to give it. Boring bars. Forgettable beat. And it seems like he intentionally tried NOT to address Kendrick on most of the track. Wack breh.
