Why make it a part of your campaign platform then? Was he assuming the Dems would win both sides of Congress? You're being naive, he told the public what they wanted to hear with 0 plan of following thru.
Pretty much everyone in the DNC primary had a healthcare policy because it was what the media and voter base demanded. Biden's public option was seen as the anti-Medicare for all, more moderate lane.

It is very common for candidates to become President and not go after all the items on their campaign list.

I don't think a Public Option will pass Congress unless Democrats have more Progressive Senators. They would do it through budget reconciliation which would mean only 50 Senate votes instead of 60 to pass legislation, but Sinema and Manchin would have likely voted against it. There may be a view other moderates out there not on board either.

So even fellow Dems are an obstacle. What's the point of being in a 'party' of you can't get on the same page?
The dishonesty and fecklessness is just exhausting for most. We're better off concentrating on other things to improve our lives other than politics. I'll take the happy accidents but it's nothing to get riled up over on either side.

When Biden doesn't actually want to enact a campaign promise: "Well, Congress won't let me do it." :smugbiden:

When Biden wants to funnel billions to Israel: "I am bypassing Congress, I can do that.":smugbiden:

Saying "We don't care about the genocide, Biden will appoint (upper class, Ivy league educated) black people to visible positions (that don't change anything)." is not a good look.

:unimpressed:

Fortunately, Dr. Cornel West is on the ballot, so we actually don't have to hold our nose and vote for Joe. And Cornel will win if YOU vote for him.

That's the very basis of a conservative to resist change. Even at their own self harm. Those hicks in coal towns have been bent over a barrel for decades and they still refuse to transition to cleaner alternatives with jobs and training. Because people who have never looked out for them told them to think and move that way.

Because they Daddys Mommys Daddys Grandaddys Daddy worked the Mines so its all about continuing The ol BootStrapping Tradition
