If BJ Upton is getting $15MM, Nick Swisher is  right now.

Hold on :whoa:
Swisher will be 32, while BJ is 29; will steal 25+ bases, along w/ 20+ HR's, w/ competent defense in a premium defensive position in CF. Swisher plays RF; has one year at best of his prime, and while is pretty good at getting on base and slugging. Simple economics :obama:

but by how much really unless i guess philly gonna throw a 100 mill at him

Bourn relies on his legs and is 30. Not too mention, he's represented by Boras :scusthov:
He's excellent in CF, however he's not great at getting on base, and he's not a slugger. BJ is the better move long term.

Reds locked up Brox.

Now jesus christ get a leadoff hitter like you said you were going to for the last 4 years. Wily Taveras doesn't count.

:why: bullshyt

besides, even if he did have a ridiculous season (which he didn't), it's easier you to say that after the fact.

Longoria has been hurt often over the last couple of seasons...but it doesn't matter now because he's signed for another 10 years.

Tulo, Longoria, Braun are taking these deals for a reason. They're top tier stars, but security is the key.

Longoria is a 6-7 WAR player a season, and this last one was the only time he missed significant time. There's no way he would get less than Prince Fielder on the open market.

Is Chapman a lock as a starter?

They told him to prepare this off-season to start as soon as their season ended. I'm guessing that barring major set-backs in the BP, ala last season with Madsen, that he'll be in the rotation

That Upton move is :krs: not so much about the team, the fact he got 5 years $75 million.

They must have signed him for his potential...even though he's already 28. That kinda money makes no sense for a guy like BJ Upton based on performance. He hits .240 every year and strikes out A LOT for a guy who doesn't have monster HR seasons. That shyt is just :mindblown: It's the richest FA contract they've ever given out too. BJ Upton!

Longoria is a 6-7 WAR player a season, and this last one was the only time he missed significant time. There's no way he would get less than Prince Fielder on the open market.

I don't think Prince Fielder would have got what he did if V-Mart didn't go down. No one was offering that til the Tigers got desperate. I don't think Longoria woulda got quite as much as Fielder, but he definitely woulda got more than he's currently signed for.

What's wrong Span? He's a decent lead up off hitter, something that The Nats don't have.

Nothing... the Nats just made their line up and defense stronger. Hence the deadrose smiley representing the rest of the NL East potential reaction.
