The Mets think people are stupid on this David Wright thing. They're trying to correct the mistakes they made with the Reyes "negotiations".

With Reyes it was like, "Yea, we're trying to sign him. We made him an offer, but he said no."

Now with Wright they're saying, "Yea, we're trying to sign him"...but this time they're throwing a vague $$ amount out there, which likely doesn't exist.

They don't wanna pay him up front, but don't wanna seem cheap either. Hilarious.

And I don't think Wright exactly wants to stay here either. He'd stay if they offered him a bunch because of comfort, but not because he believes in the org...IMO.

It's amazing when you see the extensions signed by Ryan Braun & Evan Longoria. How can you reject that good amount of guaranteed money over that amount of time so early in your career?

shyt is like playing Wheel of Fortune when you know the answer, but want to spin another couple of times to get a few extra dollars...and then your arrow ending up on bankrupt for fukkin around.

A few extra dollars?

If Longoria was a FA this offseason, he'd get 10 years/$250M

:why: bullshyt

besides, even if he did have a ridiculous season (which he didn't), it's easier you to say that after the fact.

Longoria has been hurt often over the last couple of seasons...but it doesn't matter now because he's signed for another 10 years.

Tulo, Longoria, Braun are taking these deals for a reason. They're top tier stars, but security is the key.

The contract the Mets are offering Wright is more then fair for him

IMO those were Wright numbers were put out there by somebody close to Wilpon. The Wilpons are starting the subtle smear campaign against Wright that way when Wright walks at the end of the 2013 season, Wright's the villain, not the Wilpon's. They did the same thing with Reyes, they didn't even talk to him let alone offer a contract yet some how Reyes was the villain.

No it is, and it's within the perimeters of what Wright has been rumored to want. But he isn't signed yet because there is something fishy about the contract. IMO they're trying to set Wright up to be the villain just like they did with Reyes.

this happens a lot IMO. GM's/FO's put out rumors about big trade packages or contracts theyre ready to offer for someone just to cover their ass and say they tried, to the fanbase

Tim knows that pitchers get paid, so it's not off base to suggest he'd get 120 mil, given he's 30 and played like an ace for several years. You think Strausburg is gonna sign an extension? :usure:

:rudy:
Wright has wasted 3 years of his prime due to inept FO moves; a canyon of a ballpark, and ownership that frequently shyts on players. If I'm Wright, I'm  about signing there.
