It depends the situation is fluid.If the cubs take on some of the padres salary like gyroko then not much at all

castro remaining contract is 7.9,9.8,10.9,11.9 with a team option for 2020 with a 1 mil buyout.That's a very reasonable contract for a 25 year old ss with damn near 1000 hits in his career.He's having a tough year but his career resume shows he's better than that
I have no problem with that when you haven't made the playoffs in over 20 years
Plus that 2nd wildcard in the al isn't gonna take a lot of wins it's there for the taking

Castro leaving will hurt as a Cubs fan. I don't think he's done I think the change of scenery helps him though he is a pure hitter. They've tried to change his swing countless times and that messes with players. I can see him having a great offensive season or 2 seeing that he isn't prime age yet he is only 25.
Looking at his numbers now we can take that from Baez with more pop so he is replaceable at this moment

Quirk in his contract says that he gets released 5 days after the World Series and a flat out release means that you can't resign him until May 15
He can be resigned in those 5 days but anything after that is a no go...so u almost need a ok on the contract before you trade for him
