Or not going in when there is an arms race and firesale going on within the NL. We will revisit this convo after October though

theres nothing to revisit in October

if they dont make the playoffs, whatever

they are in the midst of a MULTI year complete rebuild

they can sign Price in the offseason without losing any assets

fukk that. @god shamgod has been taunting me all year saying they're gonna land Price and make other big moves to put them in the hunt this year. Some "big" deal with the Pads to get Kimbrel.

How's the back of that bullpen looking @god shamgod ? There aren't gonna be any closers on the market in FA either.

We can talk about the young talent on the Cubs, but the reality is that all those guys are hitting below .250. Rizzo's the only proven bat in their lineup.

Hes also repeatedly said he doesnt want to overpay at the trade deadline

Cubs can make splashes in free agency, they really arent ready this season anyways, as you just noted about the young guys struggling lately

There's no way they're signing Price. You really think they're gonna tie up $350 million in two starters?

When the Jays bottom out in two years, and the Cubs are looking like perennial contenders, we'll remember this trade deadline

That deal the Mets just did was stupid too, they arent gonna do shyt

and the Chi Sox keeping Shark is probably stupid too, just the homer in me is being greedy for instant gratification

How often do the 'buyers' at the trade deadline win??

So they should have sold the farm this season for a rental that wouldnt have resulted in a title? Thats what you're advocating?

Kimbrel would not have been a rental; Chapman would not have been a rental; Alex Wood would not have been a rental; Carlos Gomez would not have been a rental.

Look at how much all of their prospects are struggling. Some of them will turn it around; some of them won't. Their guys are getting overrated. We saw Baez strike out basically every other at-bat last year and there's no room for him in their current infield; why not trade him?

:snoop: trout struggled, pedroia struggled, anthony rizzo struggled in their 1st call up.Stop trying so hard bruh Baez is hitting .309 with 10 homers, 31 RBI, a .938 OPS and 44 strikeouts since he shortened his swing.I rather keep him than get fleeced by the padres for a closer THEY need to dump to save salary.Yankees, astros and cubs all pulled out of kimbrel talks which is all that needs to be said

Good luck with the re build cubs will be competing for the playoffs more than the tigers for the next 5-7 years

Fulmer is going to be good, he'll at least be a top 80 prospect next season of not better.
