Steve Bisciotti's Statement On Deflategate Reports

The Ravens owner has not and will not try to influence Roger Goodell's decision on Tom Brady's suspension.

ESPN's Sal Palantonio told San Diego’s “Mighty 1090” radio Friday that Ravens Owner Steve Bisciotti is advocating against NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell potentially reducing Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s four-game suspension.

Brady was suspended by the league earlier this offseason in connection with "Deflategate," and reportedly may take the league to court if his suspension is not reduced.

“[By reducing the suspension] you’re angering some of the hard-core owners out there,” said Paolantonio. “I know who they are and I’m gonna name ‘em right now: Jim Irsay of the Colts. Steve Bisciotti of the Ravens and others in the AFC who believe the Patriots have gotten away with murder for years and have not been publicly punished properly.”

Biscotti denies the report and issued the following statement:

"I have not and will not put any pressure on the Commissioner or anyone representing the NFL office to take action in what everyone is calling 'Deflategate.'

"The story circulating that I have put pressure on Roger (Goodell) is 100% wrong. The reports are unfair to Robert Kraft, who is an honorable person, and to his franchise.

"Let's talk about football and the start of training camps. Fans and people like me want the issue resolved now."

News And Notes 7/30: Breshad Perriman Has Strong Practice, Tweaks Knee

Rookie wide receiver Breshad Perriman was a main attraction as the Ravens held their first training camp practice Thursday morning, and the first-round pick did not disappoint.

Perriman made plays all over the field, flashing his speed and ability to gain separation. He hauled in a pair of deep diving catches down the sidelines during full-team drills, but actually tweaked his knee falling to the ground on the second of those grabs.

Perriman walked off the field gingerly under his own power, and then went into the locker room with a trainer. The injury is not expected to keep him out for long.

“It’s not serious,” Head Coach John Harbaugh said. “It’s all sound. He’ll be back as soon as the knee feels a little bit better. It could be as early as tomorrow, or a couple days at the most."

Before leaving practice, Perriman flashed the abilities that the Ravens saw when they took him with the No. 26 overall pick. He consistently got open during one-on-one drills, and he was a popular target for quarterback Joe Flacco .

Perriman did have a pair of miscues early in practice – he jumped offsides and also had a drop – but he shook off those mistakes and made up for them with big plays. His hands have been the topic of much conversation since the draft, but he made several contested catches in Thursday’s practice.

The rookie target wasn’t the only receiver to have an impressive start to camp, and herewere some of the other highlights of the day:

- Someone forgot to tell wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. he’s 36 years old. He was able to get open throughout practice, and made the play of the day with a diving grab over the middle of the field. Smith was tightly defended by cornerback Rashaan Melvin when he tipped the ball to himself with one hand and then hauled in the diving catch. Naturally, he hopped up and spun the football.

- Safety Will Hill showed why the Ravens love his potential. He consistently found himself around the football, breaking up passes and putting himself in good position to make tackles. Hill shared some of the first-team snaps with safety Matt Elam , and Hill made the most of his reps.

- Cornerback Lardarius Webb did not practice because he failed the conditioning test. Melvin took the first-team reps opposite Jimmy Smith in his absence.

- Wide receiver Michael Campanaro returned to action after missing offseason practices with a thigh injury. He showed no signs of rust after the long layoff, and was able to get through the entire practice. He ran crisp routes and made a handful of tough catches during one-on-one drills. Campanaro is in the middle of a tight competition at receiver, and Thursday was a good sign for the second-year wideout.

- Second-year linebacker C.J. Mosley returned to action after wrist surgery held him out of offseason practices. He resumed his spot with the first-team defense alongside veteran linebacker Daryl Smith . Mosley didn’t show any limitations, but he was wearing a protective plastic cast on his left hand.

- Outside linebacker Za’Darius Smith looks like he has all the tools for a successful rookie season. He made his way into the backfield on several occasions, and the Ravens hope he can fill the pass-rushing void that opened with Pernell McPhee’s departure.

- Cornerback Jimmy Smith and right tackle Rick Wagner were both back on the field after last year’s season-ending foot injuries. The Ravens are somewhat easing them back into action, but they both participated in 11-on-11 drills throughout practice.

- Campanaro, Smith Sr. and Asa Jackson all took reps at punt returner. That competition is one of the more intriguing battles of training camp.

Elam may be done. Dude could end up being a wasted first round pick..

Ravens safety Matt Elam could be out for the season after getting hurt during practice on Saturday, according to our media partner The Baltimore Sun.

Elam may have torn his biceps and is undergoing a magnetic resonance imaging exam on Sunday to determine the severity of the injury, The Sun reports.

It’s feared the injury could be season-ending.

A complete tear where surgery is required could take 4-6 months. A partial tear could take 3-6 weeks of recovery time.

Elam started 11 of 16 games last season, finishing with 50 tackles, a half-sack, zero interceptions, four pass deflections and a forced fumble.

Good. This means no more blown coverages and missed tackles by him that cost us games. Time to cut our losses and move on. Guys don't go from grading out as the worst defensive back in football to a productive safety

I know he's not everyone's favorite, but I had somewhat high hopes for him in '15. Sounded like he was in good shape and worked hard in the offseason. Thought he'd figure it out and have a productive year (and be able to step right in if/when Hill leaves after this year).

Man, I hope this Perriman thing doesn't linger. Harbs said Thursday it'd be a couple days max and he hasn't returned yet. The first time in like a decade we draft a WR in the first and he gets injured. :snoop::mjcry:

Was never big on Elam. Could've had TJ McDonald in the 2nd instead of Arthur (and we never use him). I remember Kendrick Lewis' first camp with the Chiefs when I lived in KC. Got a lot of hype and he and Berry were a good tandem for a hot second.

just hearing about Elam being out the season

ive met him a few times and hes a cool dude but this mght be a blessing in disguise for us

they were gonna have him and Will Hill split time SS even though Hill is way better

dude is a bust, but because hes a 1st round pick they keep giving him chance after chance

Elam injury will also get Terrence Brooks more time when they take him off the PUP list

Lewis(FS) & Hill(SS) starting with Brooks as the top backup>>>>>>>>>>Lewis starting at FS,Brooks backing him up,and Hill and Elam splitting the SS job

is anybody that lives in the area going the practice at the stadium tonight?
