Just saw that both NLDS game 1's will be on either FS1/MLB Network.... ON A FRIDAY.

MLB should put a stop to that, the average casual sports fan has no clue what channels FS1 and MLBN are on. With both games featuring big market teams(Cubs and Nats) on a Friday with no other sports leagues to compete with, baseball needs to do a much better job at making their important games as accessible as possible.

Matter fact, when their current tv deals end, MLB should strike a multi partner deal with YouTube; Turner Sports, and Fox. In this deal, Turner Sports(TNT, TBS) will cover every playoff round except the World Series and those games will be viewable by watching Turner networks or via YouTube, and Fox's broadcast channel will solely host the World Series. This deal allows cord cutters to watch all of the postseason, and makes it easy for casual fans to tune in.

Yeah they won't draw any new audiences being on these bummy channels (no diss to MLB network) shyt would be like having the fukking Thunder vs Spurs on NBA TV.

If you don't have MLB Network, you have problems, but more importantly, if Fox can't showcase some games on FS1, they shouldn't have the channel. The whole point of having channels like that is to hopefully feature their content on there.

And don't assume Turner's gonna put any games on TNT. Unless it's March Madness, it's one or the other. Maybe YouTube /Twitter become viable places for postseason games (they already do for regular season and they might do that now, I might have to check), but every sport is gonna use other lesser channels to get those channels to be viable. For everyone who wants the NBA back on NBC one day, they're just gonna put the bulk of their games on NBCSN anyway, so whether people like it or not, get used to these channels. Y'all wanted alternatives to ESPN? Use them.

I understand that but cord cutters(I.E. young people) shouldn't be penealized for not having cable, when that's the demographic that baseball wants to attract. The Cubs are baseball's potential money maker, Chicago going on a deep run can possibly generate a ton of new viewers. A lot of those viewers may not have cable and thus cannot watch their first playoff series(which is on FS1).

If baseball wants to move from being a regional sport to a national/international one, then their most important games need to be viewable to just about everyone. Putting most of their October games on YouTube allow young people to watch and folks around the world to join in on the fun. Hell you can keep the games on FS1/MLBN, just let folks without cable watch via YouTube.

but as I said, they've begun showing games on Yahoo and stuff. Perhaps they do something with YouTube or through their app or whatever. This isn't only a baseball thing. All sports are gonna have this issue minus the NFL who don't air postseason games on cable anyway. MLB can only do so much about what Fox chooses to do with the games. They're paying billions for it. Same way other networks do for their games. If those fans don't have cable, putting it on FS1 doesn't really matter at that point. They're not gonna see it unless they stream it somewhere (and these leagues are opening up into doing that). If you do have cable, find the damn channel. If you can't find it in you to check where FS1 is, you're gonna have major problems trying to stream something.

We're only in what, year 3 of games only on Yahoo, year 1 of football games on Twitter. It's still a new thing that people are getting used to (some never will).

The Diamondbacks have announced that they’ve fired GM Dave Stewart and manager Chip Hale. There was no immediate word on whether the Snakes intended to retain chief baseball officer Tony La Russa.

:ohhh: I'm shocked
