cubs have been inconsistent in every aspect of baseball this season Verlander wouldn't have been the difference
astros players were crying about the fo not making a trade and I bet they still get sonned in the playoffs

playoffs are a crap shoot. All it takes is for a team to get hot at the right time. WC teams are the ones you have to watch out for.

They acquired darvish.I think the dodgers are in the tax they can't take on a lot of salary wood,darvish,hill and kershaw is good rotationCubs playoff rotation(if they make it) would be arrieta,hendricks,lester & quintana that's not bad

For the Cubs, I think adding Verlander woulda provided two things:
1.) They'd add a veteran hungry for a ring. That team is more or less the same as last year's. Based on how they've performed this year, they're a little complacent. Verlander would alleviate that.
2.) You've been pretty vocal about not wanting to pay Arrieta big money. With Verlander they wouldn't have to and they'd only have two more years left on his deal. He's still throwing 98 late in games, so I doubt he's gonna fall off the map over the next two seasons. He's aging like Clemens (minus the PEDs
).On top of all that, AL pitchers going to the NL >>>>>>>>

This is the one point I agree with but verlander has a lot of innings on that arm and will be 35 next season quintana been literally below average in the nl
the cubs have some young pitchers who can be in the rotation next year (alzolay and tseng) and a gang of dough to spend this winter I think darvish or alex cobb will be a cub next year.We'll be aiight
