There's no way Verlander should carry a high price in a trade.
He's 34 and he will likely never be a top 20 pitcher ever again.

At best, he's a team's #3.
Best case scenario for him would be a team with a great bullpen so Verlander could let it fly for 5 and 2/3 innings, then hand it over to the bullpen.
He does still have enough velocity to be a winner. He could probably run a mid-3.00 ERA the rest of the season. But he'll be closer to 4.25 next year.
And I know he was good last year, but pitchers don't get better at 35.



I should add, it depends what teams consider a "high price".
I wouldn't give up a Top 5 prospect for him...unless he went to serious playoff contender.

I'm pretty sure they released him for being a crappy catcher. He was 1-31 throwing runners out stealing. Him talking shyt just expedited the situation.
