AL = five 60 loss teams , including 2 in the al east that teams like the yankees get to play 38 times a year to polish their record up

only the marlins in the nl flat out suck,al = eastern conference if we're being real

We weren't doing a whole lotta polishing against the Orioles last year (hell, the Yankees were mediocre as fukk against the AL East a year ago and they had THREE 90 win teams. The NL had 5 total.). The AL is like the Western Conference. Somebody has to take all those beatdowns in order for teams like the Warriors and Nuggets and Rockets to stack up W's.

Only the Dodgers and Braves are actually good. Everyone else is very mediocre. The Giants have been buns all year long yet think they can make the playoffs now. It makes for a compelling pennant race but 85 wins might fukk around and clinch the NL Central at this rate.

Last year, the Eastern Conference had 4 teams under 30 wins; West had 1.

This year, the AL has 5 teams under 40 wins; NL has 1.

Nationals and O's don't really deal with each other (maybe ever, IINM) supposedly because of the regional network dispute, but they need to come take a couple of these bullpen arms off our hands. Would set them up well for the stretch run/October and we'd hopefully get a youngster or two who'd instantly become midlevel-ish prospects with us, given DC's typically solid farm.

Givens in particular would be an ideal fit there. I'd be kind of down about losing another brother from the team, but he deserves to be playing meaningful ball.
