Album is a banger breh and I don't even listen to pop like that. I guess she's more in that anti-pop genre but you know what I mean.

wtf is a social song?![]()
There are no more communal experiences. You listen to what you want when you want. I havent listened to the radio in years. That used to be how you heard new shyt. Havent watched live TV (outside of sports and news) in years, thats how you used to get introduced to new acts, even those you werent interested in. Because you had to sit through that to get to your shyt.Dudes in here saying they are unfamiliar with Billie Eilish in 2024 confirms how far removed pop music is to the urban market in this 'individual playlist era' compared to the 80's 90's and 2000's. This started in 2017 when the Chainsmokers had the biggest song that year with "Closer" but most people in the urban market were unfamiliar. But in the 80's if U2, Tears For Fears or Bon Jovi had a popular song everyone was familiar. If you go to Youtube "Birds Of A Feather" music video has more views then the "Not Like Us" music video and the Kendrick music video was out longer yet dudes in this thread are saying they are unfamiliar with Billie Eilish's song and the impact it had last year and this year.
Funny you say tacos.. considering the South Park Parody of her … lol
Song of the year IMONot going to lie.. I really loved her birds of a feather song, but it was only because i was feeling sappy about my guy, lol.

I listened to that song wayyyy more than Not Like Us. I think the song deserves some recognition for sure.Song of the year IMO
Biggest con is none of these artists that we curate will never become household names like artists I grew up with in the 80’s and 90’s. Example, Cleo Sol should be one of the biggest artists in music. I’d bet money that maybe 5 out of 10 people you ask in the streets would know who she is. That was my thing about Ari Lennox leaving Dreamville. I’m like do what you want to do, but man I think Ari has probably made the best music she’s going to make. Jumping out there over Jermaine Dupri and Bryan Cox’s remixed 90’s hiphop samples will not do anything for her in 2025. There’s not a 106 and Park or a TRL to help expose her to the mainstream. Being under J Cole should be enough… just like how SZA benefitted from being under TDE with Ke stick and them… oh well. And BS is still force fed. I mean Kendrick is running rap now and there’s still wack artists out here taking up spots from good artists. There are no more communal experiences. You listen to what you want when you want. There are pros and cons. Pros are you arent force fed BS and you can curate your entertainment based on your tastes and preferences. Cons are kids have no real frame of reference or taste to base anything on and we are all in our seperate bubbles. In the future there wont be those songs that you put on and everybody is like![]()
But you only hear them if you seek it out. Its so many artists I hear about that I have never actually heard. Also no more gatekeeping (which has its pros and cons) so the spots are unlimited.Biggest con is none of these artists that we curate will never become household names like artists I grew up with in the 80’s and 90’s. Is that a problem? People are allowed to focus on specific genres of music that they like?Dudes in here saying they are unfamiliar with Billie Eilish in 2024 confirms how far removed pop music is to the urban market in this 'individual playlist era' compared to the 80's 90's and 2000's. It’s funny how no one polices country music or their fans but apparently black/urban people are supposed to know that Billie Ellish is popular![]()
Im trying to figure out the point of your observation.
You went way left for no reason. I never once said it was a problem. I was just making an observation about pop music in the past compared to pop artists in the present based on the responses in this thread.
