There weren’t any major EPs that I remember less than 5 tracks back in the day in hiphop. I’m just saying by Recording Industry Association of America standards, an EP has to be more than 2 tracks but less than 6 tracks, and it has to be less than 30 mins.I always looked at EP’s like 6-7 tracks like back in the day. I don’t remember anybody ever dropping a 4 song EP in the glory days.
Anyone can drop anything and call it whatever they want. But just from working in the business, 3, 4, or 5 songs on a project are what makes an EP an EP by the RIAA.
I’m already too in the weeds, and none of this matters, it’s nerd shyt. and I’d love to have a few more joints. But I like copping vinyl and I like the inclusion of the instrumentals on all these EPs.
