The amount of wenching happening on television is becoming ridiculous.

My Pops Forever RIP
sure it is.

what solutions do you suggest?
There’s two options:

don’t watch television at all, or watch the shows that do have black couples since it’s a major sticking point to your viewership. I’ve seen more people on this forum complain about Bob Hearts Abishola than talk about The Neighborhood. Whenever BET tries to make a show, people lame out. Back when TVOne tried to make original sitcoms, nobody cared. I don’t have the numbers but would it surprise you if Tyler Perry’s The Oval was the #1 rated show on BET right now? There’s a reason why these channels always syndicate these older shows like Martin, Good Times, etc. If it’s not on that level, it’ll get tuned out.

I’m sorry! I shall!

Edit: I tried to go back too but could only edit the unquoted post.
Sorry about that. Suffice it to say, what I disagree with is the hypocrisy. When u say it’s artistic license for blk dudes to choose their representation, but when blk chicks do the same with non-blk men, all of a sudden it’s an agenda.

I also agree that many blk women do enable the ignorance b/v they still bop their heads to artists that degrade them, but many are wising up to the nonsense.
It's all an agenda. But my point is this. Instead of having for a tit for tat mentality I'm focusing on what's pragmatic (your word:youngsabo:) and practical.

First off I wanna say I don't believe music labels are forcing socially conscious black people to make myopic ignorant music the way you're implying they do. The fact is we are vulnerable in a society that benefits from and willfully acts towards perpetuating our lack of knowledge, low self esteem, and disenfranchisement, and has been doing so for hundreds of years. The game starts long before any black kid walks up to an ar asking for a deal. What's better than getting someone to do what you want them to do against their will? That they believe in what they're doing just as much as you do. It's like the novel 1984. Compliance ain't enough. Your heart must belong to the party. Then they shoot you. This is true for black people in all high profile positions in society. So no I don't think music labels have to force a bunch of Malcolm X jr's into pushing ignorant shyt, the game is more sophisticated than that. So yes, for all intents and purposes, these major label mumble rappers for the most part are truly expressing themselves and their ideals.

It's a false comparison and irrelevant to point out how black women are free to criticize who they want the same way black men are free to make their art their way when you keep in mind I'm speaking from the position of what's pragmatic (your word:youngsabo:) and practical. If the goal of an artist is to simply express themselves then exercising their freedom to do so means they've accomplished that goal. If the goal of black women is to influence the kind of music their favorite artist makes through social media shaming then they should prepare for alot of wasted keystrokes and unacknowledged resentment. People are who they are. No one has any problem clowning the online incel whose entitlement has deluded him into trying to shame his favorite onlyfans thot into squaring up so why put kid gloves for black women trying to shame lil kodak youngboy into becoming chance the rapper? The name of the game is always focusing on what you can change and making peace with what you can't. Which is why i brought up a more productive alternative in my 2nd paragraph and broke down my skepticism towards the loud voices on Twitter truly looking for change

I would like for black men AND blk women to stop being hypocritical in their own special way when it comes to this shyt. I’m sure if I ever go to post on Lipstick Alley there’s probably tons of white worship even as they cry about blk dudes dating out.:mjlol::mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:
But it’s the same thing here. A lot of blk dudes wanna talk about blk women being bedwenches but in full support of blk dudes PAWGing, PAAGing, and have dozens of excuses for it.
If you think LSA is anything like here (in terms of anti-black sentiment), you obviously haven't spent much or any time there. You should check it out.

I don’t agree with your ideas about the role the industry plays in black artistry. I think they handpick the most ignorant representatives they can find and then groom them. Being anti-blk in artistry almost seems to be a selling point and marketing tool these days b/c it signals to white audiences that these artists wish to cross over into that they are their desired consumers.

But we’ll just have to agree to disagree.

As for freedom of expression when blk women criticize this “art” many are merely clapping back. There is a tendency for many groups to want blk women to be silent in the face of disrespect and to encourage us to do so, many rely on age old angry black woman tropes. They aren’t trying to influence the artists. Rather, they are identifying racialized self-hate embedded within the artistry and not allowing that to go unacknowledged. Which is what they should do. Using your voice can be cathartic for Black women b/c it helps them put the nonsense on blast and identify the pattern within the artistry that some willfully deny even when it’s in their faces.

I can’t speak for every blk woman, but I don’t think they believe they can change the artists. However, they don’t have to take the disrespect silently either. Just as blk men should not ignore the increasing uptick in movies and media depicting bw and non-blk men. Speak on that. Don’t let that shyt hide in silence. Bring it out. Because doing so brings awareness, discourse and action.

If anyone is interested Blackandsexytv used to be a web production company and they had GREAT blk oriented shows with black male and black female casting.

Their shows like RoomieLoverFriend, That Guy and the Couple were legit.

I don’t know what happened to the channel tho, b/c most of the old content is gone.

Edit: That dude said her moo moo is a gateway drug.:mjlol::lolbron:
