Black men and women need to learn to appreciate each other. It's not going to come from outside.
I don't see how we're in disagreeance. You basically just said what I said except i took it further by explaining how society raises them to be in agreeance with their own anti black pathology from the beginning. We both agree that these institutions cherry pick the black people they deem 'fit' to occupy the roles they designate for us.I don’t agree with your ideas about the role the industry plays in black artistry. I think they handpick the most ignorant representatives they can find and then groom them. Being anti-blk in artistry almost seems to be a selling point and marketing tool these days b/c it signals to white audiences that these artists wish to cross over into that they are their desired consumers.
But we’ll just have to agree to disagree.
Pointing out anti black pathology when it occurs is one thing, but at what point does it stop from being an opportunity to voice grievances and educate others on anti black behavior to devolving into a regressive petty bashfest? Let's be honest a majority of the loud voices on Twitter aren't there for anything productive, they're just there to show their ass and chase after a gotcha moment that will validate their personal resentment they have for their counterpart. That ain't doing nobody any favors. If you know the game it makes more sense to go after the cacs behind the scenes you know are pulling the strings. But alot of those blue checks will willingly work with those same behind the scenes cacs all in the name off cutting off the nose to spite the face. That's some monkey shyt if i ever saw it. If i were a rich and powerful cac I'd be laughing my ass off knowing my people pulled the perfect 42 fake.As for freedom of expression when blk women criticize this “art” many are merely clapping back. There is a tendency for many groups to want blk women to be silent in the face of disrespect and to encourage us to do so, many rely on age old angry black woman tropes. They aren’t trying to influence the artists. Rather, they are identifying racialized self-hate embedded within the artistry and not allowing that to go unacknowledged. Which is what they should do. Using your voice can be cathartic for Black women b/c it helps them put the nonsense on blast and identify the pattern within the artistry that some willfully deny even when it’s in their faces.
I can’t speak for every blk woman, but I don’t think they believe they can change the artists. However, they don’t have to take the disrespect silently either. Just as blk men should not ignore the increasing uptick in movies and media depicting bw and non-blk men. Speak on that. Don’t let that shyt hide in silence. Bring it out. Because doing so brings awareness, discourse and action.
That’s the thing about free expression. You can’t control it. Some of it will be petty but there will be some real poignant truths dropped too on both sides. Take the good and leave the bad and develop something better as you move forward.Pointing out anti black pathology when it occurs is one thing, but at what point does it stop from being an opportunity to voice grievances and educate others on anti black behavior to devolving into a regressive petty bashfest? Well when the toxic and unproductive voices are the ones being given the megaphone by the powers that be that's something that has to be addressed. To ignore that would be to allow their state sanctioned muck to bog down what could be a productive discussion. You can't control it but like you said some shyt deserves to be pointed out so more people know what the game is and can move accordingly. That’s the thing about free expression. You can’t control it. Yep. It’s necessary and it chafes some people, but pointing the dumb shyt out and confronting it lets others understand that there is resistance instead of just bending over and taking it.Well when the toxic and unproductive voices are the ones being given the megaphone by the powers that be that's something that has to be addressed. While making sure to keep sight of who the real enemy is and not letting criticism devolve into pock shots. That is the recipe for productive conversation.Yep. No word of a lie
I've seen a thread just like this one on st0rmfr0nt
I believe this shyt 100%.
Agreed with everything except this part.Straight black men. Lets be deadass, we are the most homophobic ppl in the country.
Agreed with everything except this part.
WE're not the ones writing legislation stopping gay men from marrying or stopping trans people from using bathrooms.
Nor are we the ones championing conversion therapy centers or operating them.
They straight up damn near killing gay folks in Russia right now...a 98% white eastern european country.
These Republican straight white men are banning transgender people from the military. WE don't have the power or the numbers in America to do that.
But people like to put the monopoly on homophobia on black men...as if white people just suddenly started being tolerant towards the LGBTQ while smultaneously drafting laws and rules to discriminate against sexual orientation.
With Black Men, the homophobia has very little power behind it compared to White christian patriachal values that are backed by government manipulation and actual legal power behind it.
) You talkin about Russia, im talking strictly about U.S.
Stop thinking that black women are loyal queens when they aren't and dont watch tv and you wont be bothered by this stuff![]()
.Yup
that's why other bm need to stop with the bedbuck and shaming black men who date out because bw arent on that shyt of shaming bw who date out
Bedbuck and shaming has not and will never stop black men from lusting after nonblack women.
Nah he's not weird. We should feel some type of way when the media is everyday actively trying to portray that IR is the way to happiness. As if showing black love is toxic. I rarely see black love on TV and my kids see that shyt too so its very upsetting.
