Megan Markle is the closest you can get to being white but still being recognizably Black.

She even thought racism wasn't really like 'that' when she tripped her ass over to the UK.

Fukced around. Found out.

Globally lighter skinned people are seen as more desirable than darker skinned

East Asia
India
North and South America
I am gonna guess Arabs are this way too, but I haven't actually seen it.
Europeans for sure.
And I hear that some Africans bleach their skin..

So I'd agree that dark skinned Black people have a harder time than lighter skinned. But to the non Black people there's no real difference between Terrance Howard and Don Cheadle.

First I'm going to need people to define "light skin"

Because, when some people say light skin, they are talking about biracial people

Some people are talking about people who are WIll Smith's complexion and lighter

Others may exclusively be talking about Steph Curry type dudes, etc
I've been in convos where people legit call Nia Long lightskin. From then on I knew those kinda convos hold little to no weight. I avoid them now.

Viola Davis is not attractive and it's NOT because of her complexion. Alot of these women use colorism and to a lesser extent featurism as a manipulation tool.

Colorism exists, but let's be for real, if a dark skin woman is attractive she's not hurting for options in men, maybe in other things like pageants or the same thing men deal with. And alot of times they themselves go for light skin or white because they can be as insecure as dark skin guys who go for light or white.

yeah colorism includes feature-ism too  which is why (as listed in my previous post) people like beyonce, rihanna did creams + nose/feature ops ...:hubie:

we’re not talking about racism, we’re talking about colorism.

I want you to look outside the black disapora, look at how darkness is vifiled, yet light skin or white skin is not.

Indians are perfect example because they based an entire caste system on the shade of skin color, with the darkness being at the bottom.

In the Philippines, you hardly ever see dark or brown skin Filipino being broadcasted on TV. It’s always someone light skinned
That's difference because you're making the racism = power argument.

In the Phillippines, Filipinos own the TV stations
In India, Indians own the TV stations

So, they can CHOOSE to leave darker-skinned individuals off of their TV stations

ADOS don't own anything in this country.

It's not like there's a rich cabal of light-skinned Black billionaires who can keep darker-skinned Blacks off of TV

We don't own the stations, we can't keep dark-skinned Blacks off of TV or out of magazines.

Hell, the richest Black people in America are Michael Jordan, Oprah, and Robert Johnson

None of them are light-skinned

Light-skinned people have ZERO wealth in this country just like dark-skinned people have no wealth in this country.

No Black people own much of anything of value in this country.

We just have athletes, rappers, singers, and a few business guys like Robert Johnson & Robert Smith

No major media, commercial real estate, or banks.
Viola Davis is not attractive

I understand that you’re light skinned and feel a certain way about colorism, the way I see you talk is the way I see alot of light skinned folks deflect the harmful effects of colorism. You can see from my previous post that I said this isn’t even light skinned people fault, it’s the horrific system we live in.

I used those countries as example because darkness has always been seen as something ugly, dreadful, and sinful. Never has lighter or whiter skin has been seen in the same manner.

You can feel however you want about it but some light skinned folks don’t and won’t be able to understand the horrors of being dark skin person.

they can and have, its just not to the degree or harshness darkskins experience

but that rebuttal which is mainly used by colorism crybabies(Women) is mute when you take into consideration that if we trickle down to who is the most abused and discriminated person in this country it leads you down a oppresion olympic pyramid with Straight Black american men holding the gold medal in that sport.

yet no one feels sympathy or empathy for us but only fault us or have us as a scapegoat to bash and negatively portray and talk about "poor me"

so :yeshrug: yeah lightskins can experience colorism, and whoever wants to cry "but they dont go through what darkskins go through" can just suck it up cause we all know a point like this mainly and majorly brought up by BW and dating politics.

This type of conversations always ends up with black men being at fault or responsible, some way or some how its black mens fault. What this is really about is your not allowed to say you prefer or even simply like light skin women, its ulitmately about mate guarding and trying to dictate to folks what they can or can not like.

I know you’re feeling emotionally about me leaving the conversation but you didn’t care so I ended it on my part.

And this is what I hate the most, desirability politics has messed everything up. Colorism is a lot more than just “preferences”. If a black man prefers or likes light skinned women, he’s absolutely allowed and doesn’t have to give an explanation. Same thing with how light skinned women prefer dark skin black men. Just don’t treat people lesser than because of it.

The actual conversation should be about how colorism is systematically insidious, I have yet to have anyone explain how or even why light skinned men end up receiving lesser sentences than dark skin men, even though both parties are black???
