Best is to work a 9 - 5 then have a side hustle. IMO

This 100%.

If the side hustle becomes lucrative enough, then it's the full-time hustle.

Another approach is to make $$$$ working for the Other man and then save up so you can float for a few years while trying to get your own biz started.

Owning is definitely good but it's not for everyone. Some people are good with people but suck with numbers/accounting. Other folks are good with handling money but don't have a natural salesman personality to push their product. We need more Black biz owners but that doesn't mean every breh and brehette needs to be a CEO of LLC Inc.

I'd take 60k working for myself over 120k working for someone else
Customer is always right. I’ve seen business owner kiss peoples asses because they spent $20 bucks in their store and are afraid of a bad yelp review tanking their sales. You gotta pay 9-5 workers 6 figures for the same right.

Having worked intimately with hundreds of small businesses, alot of the stuff promoted about ownership is either a myth or exaggerated by the few who have success.

Owning a business is grueling work. And alot of businesses have a finite lifespan meaning that if you don’t hit it big during your run then you’re going to have to figure out your retirement. Its only worth it if it means something to you but I don’t think the masses will ever build wealth that way.

I agree. I need the guaranteed easy money with minimal lifting a traditional job provides.

I have no urge to work 80 hour weeks for myself. how is that living?

Making 60k self employed is equivalent to making 120k w2 income after all ur breaks and shyt...

Wife literally shows ZERO income after just basic LEGAL above board deductions and writing off expenses.

This is nonsense. It's actually the opposite. First If you have a business you are likely working much more than a typical 9 to 5 and 40 hours. On top of that you are paying for your own health insurance and benefits out of pocket. You have no paid vacation days or sick days so if you dont work you dont eat. No 401k match etc. All those benefits a typical corporate job can provide add up.
