I think what's going on with this site is something I'll call the B"arbershop Effect"

Any man who frequents a barbershop knows that the shop is a place where serious discussion can take place, in addition to spirited debates about sports, life, politics, and everything in between. You usually have your older men in the shop, passing on wisdom accumulated through years of trial and error, the young successful cats who have their own opinions and ways of thinking, the barber as a mediator, and everyone else who either participates in the debate or just soak up game (most importantly the young men).

If you're familiar with barber shop culture you also know that all that debate and gem sharing practically disappears the moment an attractive woman brings her son to the shop, comes to get a haircut (for the natural sisters), or get their eyebrows waxed.

The tone is immediately softened so as not to offend the lady, and the men stop cooperating and, instead either compete for the attention of the lady or just remain silent because quite, frankly, many men are intimidated by being in the presence of attractive women.

This used to be temporary, the woman would leave and the next debate would cue up immediately. But nowadays with the prevalence of over arched demonic eyebrows and women rocking there natural hair, women have more or less been integrated into the shop and the shop culture has changed to accommodate them.

When I first migrated to this site, it spoke to me as a place where black men could congregate and compare notes about our American experience. I remember the it certs and career thread, I didn't follow that path but I used the information to put my lil cousin on game. He's now a systems analyst in DC, making good money and being a provider to his burgeoning family.

There was a credit repair thread that inspired me to get my finances in order, which led to starting my own business and now I'm preparing to get into real estate investing.

There was another thread recently where a young bruh was going to truck driving school. I honestly never considered that as a career choice, but I researched it, put my lil cousin on and he's now 22 years old making 40k with full benefits.

Now I look at "the locker room" and it really is "the ladies room". Its straight garbage. Celebrity gossip (omg some random celebrity is married to a white woman or white man), constant victim threads (omg some random white person said something about black people), and constant pandering to women (which sparked a backlash that demeans women entirely).

Maybe its because I interact with women in real life, but I have no desire to have a collection of gal pals online. Can someone point me to a forum that men can actually have man conversations. I think this site is done for that...

There aren't that many women here. And all the threads you've mentioned I've learned things from too (maybe not truck driving) and maybe even participated. You can't keep all the knowledge to yourself!

I come here to not deal with catty drama on the female centric forums. Not saying it doesn't happen here, it's just different. The constant gender wars are shytty, I usually don't participate. There aren't many black forums, and I like that this one is. I wouldn't mind Reddit or some of the others but I'm not trying to explain or defend blackness at every turn.

Sorry for ruining your club :francis:, but I'm staying anyways. :birdman:

Have you tried starting conversations? Also, you can ignore those crappy threads so that your view of TLR is different. I still think there is some good information shared in here every now and then, but like bmack said, the coli is more than TLR.

I think you're missing the point a little. Men's whole behavior becomes altered in the presence of women. That's why men had cigar lounges and fraternal organizations. That's where real power comes from, when men gather together to share knowledge, which is power. Throw women in the mix and it all becomes a contest for the woman's attention and affection, hence the 6 figures, 6 certs, 6 pack crew and #TeamSimp. And it also starts a backlash, cue #hoh.

I'm not even advocating that this site change. It is what it is now, good for some laughs and fukkery, I just wanna find a site where men can build and trade information that will actually empower us

Sounds like you want TLR to be limited to men only. If that's the case just create a private group or start your own site and try to limit the membership yourself which is damn near impossible. If men can pose as women aliases, sure the reverse can happen.
