Midwest as in Kansas city? which is basically the bay.

all radio aint the same breh. aint none of those names getting national airplay except Kendrick - and we know why he gets play.

and I like nipsey, btw. i was one of the 1st people hyping him up on sohh. but I couldn't get a physical mixtape or nothing on him at the time when I was living down south. bootleggers would just say "that's that west coast stuff".

yall be alright tho. I remember yall having all types of chit poppin when I was a young whipper-snapper. it'll come back around.
Midwest as in Ohio and detroit. I know folks there who was big 40 mac dre and too short. . We got mainly r and B singers from here now. Zenyada kesha cole kehlani.la got a lot more current national rappers than we do. We be on that indie grind tho. I was pointing out a lot of rappers cross country arent really big to us outside of south.

Dipset were probably the most Southern-friendly rappers from NYC outside of the megastars(Jay-Z, 50, etc). But 40 has had Southern Indie connections since the 90's and it carried over to the 00's after Mac Dre passed in 2004. 40's peak might not have been on Dipset levels, but the longevity of his popularity in The South surpasses Dipset. He still gets featured on the major tracks of popular artist 25+ years into the rap game. Dipset peaked, and fell off, and bounced.

I'm not talking about features & connects.

e-40 is the bay area fat joe.

who from the bay is on that level ?????

:comeon: Most if not all of those artist mentioned were linked to the major Universal and got heavy spins dude to payola back in the mid to late 90's through early 00's. Not to discredit their success, but Bay nikkas never cared about that type of commercial success because they could eat in Cali independently, whose population is at least 40 million strong, and keep at the very least 3-5 dollars per unit of profit per sale, instead of getting pennies on the dollar for fukking with a major.

Souls of Mischief, Hiroglyphics, Jacka, JT the Bigga Figga, hell even Sacramento's C-Bo aka Cowboy are highly regarded nationally and internationally. Don't have to be on a major to get love if what you spit is felt.
