The Beastie Boys deserve strong consideration for GOAT group - they are right there w/ Mobb, Wu etc

thrye probably a top 15 rap group, maybe top 10

first 2 albums are really good, Paul's Boutique is a borderline classic album

but to put them up with Wu Tang & Mobb Deep is insane

I was basically going to come in to say this. But I will say this the Beastie Boys don't get enough credit for their production as someone that grew up in the 80s, I don't think people realize how revolutionary Pauls Boutique was as an album. Granted it wasn't that cool to listen to back in 1989 but in the darkness of my room, I bumped it pretty hard. The production was years ahead of it's time and low key helped set the template for modern production in a lot of ways not to mention some of those James Brown and Curtis Mayfield and Beatles samples were used really for the first time.

I do think the Beasties have 3 classic albums

License to Ill
Pauls Boutique
Ill Communication

and 2 Very Good Albums in

Hello Nasty
Two the 5 Boroughs

Also from a live performance standpoint they are one of GOATs.

So in short they are not quite, top 5 but I don't think they get enough respect on here either.

Both of these songs are satire. They're making fun of frat boys and rock fans. They were one of the first groups to bring satire and sarcasm into rap.
