worked late. But it's beer day so hit the local spot on the way home from the office. picked up a couple of things. First beer I tried was the Voodoo Ranger Blaze Lightning IPA by New Belgium. Pretty sure its in the Juicy family. I generally like the Voodoo Ranger/Juicy IPA's but doesn't hit the notes that it says it should. The ABV is over 7% so you likely could get snuck on em cause they go down easy.

like the can's artwork though. If you're into the Voodoo Ranger series of beers at least try it out.

Enjoyed some Friday Night Smackdown The other beer from my beer day pick up was the drink of choice. Had the Cold Front Winter Lager by Avery Brewing. For a Winter Lager, not getting any kind of winter notes. Nothing I would expect out of a fall or winter beer. Untappd says it's a Bock Style Lager and I get that. The ABV is just 5.5% feels a bit light for a winter beer. It's easy drinking and not bad on the taste. Worth trying at least one if you can buy by the can or see it on the tap at one of your favorite spots.

Had to crack a brew for this Monday Night Puntfest. Beer on the evening is the Bootcut by American Solera out of Tulsa. Style is a Vanilla Imperial Stout ABV is 10%. Pours nice and smooth, a dark stout. It's got a bitter malt like taste. The vanilla notes are too light so it comes off kind of burnt and flat. Can't add this to the recommend list for any of the stout drinkers in the thread.

No tall can tonight. I went to Aldi today to get some shyt. And if I see a random beer at Aldi I have to buy it. The random beer I picked up today is the

Patriots Reserve American Lager. ABV is 5%. It comes from some brewery in VA Beach. I mean I got it at Aldi so nothing special kind of bitter for a lager. But, the pour and color are what I would've expected.

Guess they are supposed to be Sam Adams knock offs. I haven't had a regular Sam Adams in years, but this is lighter than a Sam Adams. Definitely ain't matchin a Sam Jackson either

Been a minute. Terps trying to end the season on a positive note

:lolbron:

but I picked up some beers. Lets start off with the Tall Can because it is Saturday after all

Went local to my area and tried Reckless Winter by Friction Brewing Co. The style is a Red Rye IPA ABV is 6.5%. Taste this is dry like a rye has the amber color of a red an all the hoppy notes of an IPA. So they fukkin nailed that one. I will say pouring it out/opening the can the smell felt very earthy and I hate earthy hops in IPA. shyt be feeling like you drinking grass. But, this beer is better than it smell. Bitter on the finish so I'm glad I got only one can of this. If you like IPAs or like to explore IPA variations it's worth a shot.

came down with a little post Thanksgiving bug. So finally got around to trying one of the other beers I purchased the other day. The next out of that batch was the Office Party Holiday Stout by Abita Brewing. This is a milk stout by style with an ABV of 6.8%. This is on the sweeter side which is expected for milk stouts. I liked this one, but I should have read the flavor profile more closely. I don't particularly enjoy cinnamon or nutmeg and both of those come through on the finish. There is some cocoa and vanilla in it as well. But, to me as a person that doesn't love cinnamon the cinnamon is key on the finish. Pours a nice dark color with little head. Definitely a solid winter stout despite the notes I dislike.

It's Saturday we got some NXT Deadl1ne. Definitely calls for a Tall can. Was on the South Side of town earlier and stopped at one of the good liquor stores over there and picked up a few things. Tonight's Tall Can comes from Firestone Brewery it's the Parabolita Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout, ABV is 9.2% Kind of surprised it is under 10. But, given the vanilla, cocoa and sea salt used for this I think it mellowed out. The first one was kind of sweet on the finish but the second one was a more even noted stout. Firestone in my opinion consistently puts out quality beers and this is a great stout. Definitely if you're stout hunting for the winter. This is one you should pick up.

Went local for the beer tonight. Watching this Eagles struggle performance. The beer is the Bock by Wichita Brewing Company. ABV is 6.4% this is smooth with a nice amber pour and a solid not overly malty taste. Light in body and goes down easy. They haven't really brewed anything like this from my recent memory and this is a solid beer definitely will purchase a few more times before they cycle out for season.

A chill Thursday decided to crack a beer while I caught up on the new season of Hard Knocks. Went into my Tall Can Stash since I will be too busy to get my normal Saturday night tall can post in. This beer of choice is from Martin House Brewing. I went with the "If you get the nachos stuck together that's one nacho" this is a Hazy IPA pours on the juicy side. Hoppy/Earthy not as fruity as most Juicy IPAs. ABV is 10% so you're likely not drinking too many in one sitting. I only have the one. Solid IPA worth trying off the tap or picking up a single/4 pack at your local spot if in your area.

Beer day at one of my local spots. Beer of the day is Santa's Private Reserve Stout (2025) by Rogue. Noticed it the last couple of times I saw it in the shop, but the stock was getting low so I figured I better pick it up today. ABV is 5.7% so not a heavy stout. Notes are chocolate, coffee, and cocoa. The coffee has it kind of bitter on the front end, but not so much on the finish. Pours a nice smooth dark color. It's a nice little stout to sip on at the end of the night. would recommend picking up if you come across it.
